Bad day on crows, a small success on pigeon and rabbits

Well, waited in for the postman today, and my new gibson call arrived (Thanks Skip ). So went staraight down to the farmers, as he had a rabbit problem too, and had to show me which field the problem was in. After we sorted out the area to tackle, I asked him where the crows were, and he said they were hitting a field of wind blown barley (Currentley at £ 200.00+ a ton). So went staright up there and set up. NOTHING, NADA, not a crow in site (Pigeons neither), I sat there for three hours, and no matter how hard I called, and which call I used, there just wasn't ANYTHING flying at all. So, gave that up and packed everything away and headed home. As I was passing the farmers brothers farm, I noticed two pigeons disappearing into his grain barn, and thought "Now those are mine" LOL. So. pulled up. got the shotgun out, loaded it again, and started walking up to the grain barn. Suddenly the barn area exploded inpigeon, they were evrywhere, must have been 100 in there. I was so taken aback that I forgot to take the safety off LOL, and so didn't get the first. By the time I got it off they were almost out of range, but managed to drop two, so at least something. Went home and got some food down me, watched a bit of tv, then got the rifle out and headed to the rabbit field. When I got there, there were about 150 rabbits on the field, who immediately ran to the burrows when my 4x4 appeared in the lane next to the field (It was 21:30). Got set up and noticed a bunch of rabbits still sat in the far corner aboy 120+ metres away. Lined up the 17HMR and took out 4 in under 3 minutes, whereupon the rest also ran for the burrows. Then it was a waiting came as it became darker and darker, and the fog came rolling in. The fifth one was hit just as he headed into a hedge, and unfortunately he fell through it and disappeared into thick brambles in a ditch behind barbed wire. I could see him, but wasn't risking ripping my camo gear for a dead rabbit, let the fox have him. Then with intervals of 30 mins, the occasional bunny would venture out again, and another two bit the dust. At 23:30 I called it a day as the fog was then knocking visability to 50 metres, and I had no one to lamp for me either. Today, i cured the lamping problem, and ordered a Clulite Intercentor, an LED lamp with integrated battery, 350 metre range, 3 filters as standard, and a nice ball joint for adjustment, all for £ 185.95 plus P&P OUCH They certainlynow how to hit the pocket over here. Unfortunately, ordering stuff from the States is 95% of the time CHEAPER to buy, BUT, the postage they ask is often astronomical and postage can take 3-6 weeks China is often cheaper and quicker on many items, but I try to get quality products whenever possible, so try mostly to get from the States and Europe

Sounds like you've got the honey hole for rabbits. I'm lucky to see 2 when I go out

Well, got 7 the first night, 11 the second night, and 5 last night, so leave them this evening and hit them again at about 03:00 in the morning, but this time take a friend too, and once it starts to get a bit light, set up for crow shooting in the same field, as it has 2-3 flight lines going over it too
