Shot Some Crows

It has been a bit slow here on the board with regard to crow hunting and dead crows. Thus, I felt I should add a new post and a photo or two for the entertainment of all us like minded shooters .

Pretty warm up here now and real green. Older guy that I shoot trap with tagged along for some run and gun crow action the other day. He is no stranger to crow shooting but has not done any for many years now.

Drove some mixed farming areas and forest fringe country. All 16 stands less one netted crows and a few magpies. Photo is of my friend with one of his kills. He was shooting a 12 with trap loads/IC choke, I chose to shoot one of my 16's.

"Pretty warm up here"?  Your friend is wearing a camo garment over his T shirt!! He'd risk heat stroke in these latitudes.  Keep it hot up there for the corvids!!

It was about 75 degrees that afternoon Phil. Almost too hot for crow hunting IMO.  But this would have been a pleasant cool down for you Texas folks I would imaginesmile!

Ted,
How are the bugs there?
Around here its either Thermacell or DEET.
Otherwise the mosquito and black fly/gnats will cause you to bleed to death in 15 minutes!!!!!

PatB, it has been a sensational spring here in the weather department. Very warm and quite dry until a few weeks ago. Mosquitoes are not much of an issue as of yet but a few days of temps in the 80's will have them out with a vengeance.

Mosquitoes can at times be unbearable, black flys more to the north where there is moving water. What has been quite an annoyance this spring has been the wood ticks. Nothing to pick a dozen off ones body by simply walking through 100 yards of dry grass.

Chip, please don't fret. Young crows are popping out of their shells all over the north country. By early July most will have fledged and the their ranks will swell. I'm sure millions of grade school drop outs will be winging their way south toward youbiggrin
