Difficult to post pics as I'm on an iPad2, which won't post pictures to forums, only way to post to a forum is via email sending Will try and get on a windows computer later, and maybe post some then, or someone with a windows comp give me an email address, I'll send them the photo(s), and they can post them for me lol

So, just made 4 lofting crows, dead simple. Got a some wire coat hangers off eBay (100 for £ 14.50 including P&P). And cut the hook off just under the wire twist. Then I straightened the wire out till it was almost perfectly straight. Next get a fishing weight (small 200 gram polo type with hole one will do), and thread This onto one end, then twist the wire about an inch up so that it is held fast. Next, paint the whole lot Matt black. Get a 1/2" Tool storage spring Terry clips, and paint these black too. Now get a full bodied flocked crow decoy, and enlarge the top hole so that the Terry clip will fit (width). No straight the curves of the terry clip so that it resembles a "T", and then bend the legs out slightly so that it now resembles an A with a bar across the top !! Slide the wire with the weight on the end all the way through bottom to top, untill the weight is almost into the bottom hole (wire twist should now be inside decoy), and slide the Terry clip legs down, down the top of the wire to the decoy. Pull the legs in and slot into the top hole, the wire should now no longer rattle about. Next, bend the wire as close as possible to the clip slightly forward, this will stop the wire falling out. Now, about 4-6 inches up from the clip, band a large hook type loop in the wire to go over the branches. Touch up with black paint anywhere the paint isn't covering, as shine frightens the crows away ........ Finished

There are pictures here of the crow and the rod plus clip, and descriptions too

https://www.facebook.com/groups/fieldsports.ulster/

I could post there as they have an email address, but most forums are impossible to post to from the iPad2.

Maybe someone could look on there and copy them across to here along with the description. just look for the crow posting from Ben Blaker (me)

The one photo shows the finished lofting crow, the other photo shows the straightened wire Coat hanger with fishing weight attached, and modified spring clip in the position it would be when the wire is inserted through the crow. An unmodified clip is shown for comparison.
The wire is inserted thought the bottom hole of the crow decoy WITHOUT the clip in place, until the weight is almost into the decoy. Then the clip is slid down the wire feet first and inserted into the top hole in the decoy.
Now bend the wire slightly forward at the clip, and this will stop the wire sliding back out of the decoy.
Now about 4-6 inches above the clip, make a large loop type hook by bending he wire around, this is to hang the decoys over branches, so needs to be large.
Use a lofting pole to hang the decoys up.

Can you up load them to photobucket then just insert the link to them? That is how I upload pics as most of my pics never make it to the computer to use the site's up-loader.

Here is an example, I copied and pasted the the IMG link at photobucket.

Unfortunately, the iPad won't allow any sort of direct upload to forums, even cutting and pasting the link wouldn't work, so just posted the links. Only way to get photos to anyone is via email, even posting to face book I have to use a seperate program to post to my page, then share to the page I want it on.

iPads are handy, but a pain in the butt with photos lol

Thanks, glad to see they finally made it here. No, those are the only two photo's I made. The first shows the coat hanger, straightened and with weight fitted, and with the clip feet first in the approximate position it would be AFTER it has been inserted through the decoy. An unaltered clip is shown for comparison beside it.

The second photo shows the finished decoy, with weight protruding from the bottom hole, and clip in place in the top hole.

I reckon it looks pretty good. Made 4 so far, but will get another 4-6 at the end of the month, so will have enough to loft. Don't forget, PAINT the rod, clips, and weight BEFORE inserting thought the decoy, and then touch up any bits that have rubbed off when everything is is place and the rod has been bent into position.

Hope the photo's and description enable you all to makenyour own lofted decoys.

Success, and have fun making them. Home made is always more satisfying than buying them, and a lot cheaper too.
