I frequently travel for my business,so oftentimes I will bring my gear with and try and scratch out a hunt in some new areas.
yesterday brought me back to N. Iowa for a quick stop in the morning so I found me a WMA in S. Mn to try out for a lunchtime "diversion" on the way back North.
It was a long wait and I almost threw in the towel, but decided to stick it out for a little longer.
It was another SUPER windy day, and my Fox pro Fury had a hard time making enough noise to reach out there.
but eventually some crows started filtering in,onesies and twosies.
I killed pretty much everything that came in close enough. I think I only let 2 get away to tell the others.
got a couple triples and a few doubles, fun times but 15-30 minutes between birds sometimes.
towards the end of the hunt they started bombing in pretty good, I had 3 crows in a row 20 seconds in between, that came kamikazeeing, wings tucked all they way in then would swing around into the wind right in front of me with there backs turned to me 20 feet off the ground, let me tell you it did not end well for them.
the wierd thing about it was like they took turns,I kid you not all 3 took the exact same flight in , the same divebomb, same path. never seen anything like that. Wish I had been videoing.
at the very end, I'm picking up, have truck parked right there, ( and loaded gun nearby) here comes another bandit, comes rushing in screaming at the death and destruction strewn about before him.
Then he flies to the top of a tall tree, I sneak over grab my gun and start heading towards him, he let me get to about 50 yds of him..... bad mistake for him, he dropped like a rock from the very top of that oak tree.
Low and Slow, you are a driven and devoted member of this forum. To mix the important duties of killing crows with your day job shows your determination. Thanks for sharing!
