Today's disaster so far.

So, I got back on the field at 12:30, and immediately got two. Then it dried up again till 13:30 when I got a another one, then a quarter of an hour later, got a double. Dropped both nicely, went to collect the second one, and it got up and flew off. So I gave it a very quick double tap at about 5-7 yards and blew it literally in half. Wings and head one side, and tail with feathers the other side. But put him together on the ground and he still made a decoy. Then about a half hour later got another one, then 10 minutes later, a pigeon, and then another 10 minutes another grey grow which I had to double tap, as he was at 25 metres and the first shot didn't seem to be sure of dropping him in the field. Second shot dropped him on the spot.
All day I had 2-3 tractors in each field around me, some were baling, others collecting bales, and another spreading muck.
At 16:00 hours they started spreading muck in my field, ( just as the birds satarted coming in droves, they scared them off the field) and started right next to my decoys, which made driving over to pack up very exciting, I was sideways crabbing along the hill, and the 4x4 is covered with crap and stinks like hell.
S, will look how the weather is tomorrow, but whicheveR field I choose, it will be full of liquid cow dung

So, set up on a new field this morning in the dark, set the decoys up to the right, of me, meaning I should have the farm house on the left, and a clear field of fire to the front, right, and rear. As the light appeared I discovered to my front a gap in the trees, and about 150 metres from me in his g at the back of the next field, was one of the anti's houses. No problem I thought, they'll come in on the right anyway. Did they he'll as come from the right. The only birds that appeared (well over 50) came o.ver from behind me (low over the hedge) and carried straight on to the gap in the trees, meaning there was no way I could shoot, as the risk of shot dropping on the anti's house was just too great.. So after an hour, I packed everything up and moved the lot over so my back was too the anti's house, meaning the. Farm house was at my right now, but at least I had two clear fire areas, with the decoys set to my left. However, the birds had by then dried up, and only had two till 11:00 hrs, when I came home to wait for the postman. Once he's been I'll be back on the field, and hopefully get better luck

Lol, I'm waiting for some stuff from china (electric motors, range finder for rifle etc), and my FAC to come back with the variations on it. If you're not in when then come, they leave a note and you have to collect of from the main sorting office, which is 12 mile away, and you have to pay to pak in the town, then walk 800 yards to the sorting office to collect it

S, yellow alert for heavy rain tonight with warnings of severe localised flooding throughout the province of Ulster. That means I can forget shooting tomorrow even if its dry during the day, as the fields will be like bogs tomorrow night is forecast more of the same at the moment, so maybe Friday will be a washout too

Yep, would normally not be a problem, but with that rain forecast it means the fields will be like bogs come the morning

Yep, but would mean going to the woods, a 30 mile drive from me, but well worth it. My FAC came back today with the variations on it, so was able to collect my two new rifles only took 13 weeks grrrrrrrrrr

Funny how things work for you. Here I buy a gun, go to the registration office and get it put on my cert. Done. No reapplying ever.
If I sell it: Go to the office, de-register - done...

Wish it was that simple here. Because it took so long I got BASC to chase the plod for me, and as a result plod got there own back by putting a 6 month supervision order on the 22-250 I probably have fired more large calibre rounds through rifle and pistol that the lot of this police force combined.

So, got up. This morning to have a look at 05:00, and walked Ono a field. Immediately sank almost to the knees, good I didn't drive in as would have had my 4x4 stuck there. So went back to bed. It stopped raining just before 05:00, but had had heavy rain for 32-33 hours non stop till then.
More rain is forecast from 13:00 hrs so will see what the fields are like in the morning (Saturday)

Lol, would get a lot more if it would just stop raining long enough for the ground to dry out. Must be 300+ crows on each field every morning in this weather, yet can't get at them as the fields are quagmires, so can't drive onto them, in fact they are that bad you can't even walk on them, totally sodden, and you sink almost to your knees

Same thing today. Got up at 05:00, and 05:30 to the field, sank past my ankles even on top of the hill. So went back to bed. At 13:00 a mate rang and said he was bored, so invited him up to do some barns. He took his shotgun me my air rifle. Go a couple of shots but missed and couldn't understand why. Went back home and checked the zero. Out, so re-zeroed. Perfect, then decided to check again, out again. The scope isn't up to the recoil of an FAC rated air rifle LOL, so that means I have to get two new scopes, one for the air rifle, and one for the 22-250 too
