If you could have only ONE shotgun to use for crow hunting, which gun would it be?

Me?  I'd take a SKB model 1900, 12 ga. 26" barrel.

But, mine would be a Mossburg 500 with a 32 in steel shoot vented rib barrel. Nicknamed it AT&T years ago. It will reach out and touch one.

• Browning
• Maxus MODB
• 12 gauge  - 3 inch chamber
• 26 inch barrel plus a 32 inch Metro barrel extension

I had been using a 3.5 inch chambered Maxus with a 28 inch barrel and the Metro extension, but this new one I bought a couple of weeks ago seems to function better with the excellent Federal "Metro Field" loads that Texas Matt discovered.

*I own a locker full of M12's and also several more "modern" auto shotguns. Just enjoy shooting the vintage guns as I don't feel this to be much of a handicap when hunting crows. I'm somewhat of a "traditionalist", a blued steel and walnut type of guy. For me life's too short to hunt with ugly guns

Today, it's my Benelli SBE11. Just like the way it feels and pulls up.........may find a better fit someday.....but for now....thats my choice.

Nice gun, but too artsy shmartsy for me... Plus the price is nearly half a months wages... Lol
I really do prefer the simple scrolls of a Holland Holland or Purdey ;) yeah, dream on Zedd...

For me it's a bog standart Webley & Scott 16 ga. But I love her no less...

Favorite shotgun - Lefever HE, 12 g. sidelock SXS with ****ing indicators, 30 inch Krupp steel barrels, choked full and full, twin triggers, ejectors - deadly on crows and doves. Routinely drop birds at 50 - 55 yards with Nitro 27s, as long as there is no wind. A real meat gun, built around 1910 or so - was my dad's gun, fits me perfectly.

Favorite quail gun - Browning BSS, 20 g SXS, selectable trigger, ejectors, 28 inch barrel - choked improved and mod, generally shoot #9 shot at quail

Honorable mention - LC Smith SXS, 32 in barrels, choked full and extra full - "Long Range" is engraved on the gun, great on windy days or on extremely high birds.

My favorite is my Lefever NITRO SPECIAL side by side 12 gauge made in 1927.
Duel triggers.
No ejectors but wish I had them.
30" barrels, but overall it's shorter than my pump with 28" barrel.
Chokes are FULL and MOD which is awesome to have instant choke selection depending on distance of crow.

I now have a second one of these Lefevers that is the same except it has 28" barrels and both are I/C chokes.

Winchester model 12 16ga but I also shoot a Lefever Nitro, 16, no ejecters either.
Really enjoy shooting the older guns.

The one I use now, Benelli SBE 12GA, 26". Use it for everything flying, crows, geese, ducks, clays and those that walk, turkeys.

Bennili ,M2,28 in barrel.But the most important to me,2 3/4 ,5 shot,Prarie Storms ,Federal

I like my 26" Versa Max. Very soft shooting, easy to clean, will cycle anything you feed it. 

The one I use now is a mossberg silver reserve o/u 12g 28inch screw in chokes. But I am working on getting a 10 g side x side

 That's too bad. Every gun made you can find bad reviews. I can shoot any gun I want and any action. Own and shot many that I don't weekly at the gun club. I can tell you I have never come across an auto (3.5") that can cycle loads like the Versa Max. I can also tell you that it is hands down the softest shooting 12 gauge I have ever shot. They had a few bugs to workout when they first come out but I think the newer versions are a great gun. Highly adjustable in minutes height, cast, and LOP. Swings great and fits me perfect. When I read a bad review on something I know that there are thousands who like them. Many gun of the year awards from many sources so it can't be that bad.

 I'm not a fan of Benelli, but my buddy has the Super Black eagle II and it will cycle anything. But now that I think about it, I'm not sure if it shoots 3.5" or not.

I have the same stock and forearm on my Remington 870 20 gauge that I use for clays but that is the brown version called "Nutmeg". These are Boyd's products and it really helps when you shoot alot. Takes the stress off of my wrist. I broke my wrist in three places when I about 12 years old and my bones in my right wrist don't allow me to bend my wrist sideways and down like holding a standard stock grip.

 

Just for fun, here's a photo I took with my Mossberg and the first Crow I took with my custom 12 gauge reloads when I got back in to reloading last year. I took much pride in this downed bird because it was my own reload that did the job. Forgive my showing off, but, it's why I hunt Crows and reload my own shotshells.
