Hi C4C,
In a way I can understand what you are saying. On the other hand, what better way to honour your uncle than (consiously?) go rabbit hunting, take a minute at his favourite place and take a minute to reflect on the great time you had with him there and then. I know not a single hunter who would have not wanted that. We sometimes do just that to remember our friend who have gone. Just a thought. I hope you're not offended by my suggestion.
Regards,
Z.

I read your post about friends who have passed away that you honor by doing whatever you think is right.
This might sound corney but I name roads after my two hunting partners that have passed. There is one section of road that Jerry Byroade and I used to travel for years. I still use it a lot to get to some of my spots, it's just a dirt road with no name, that is until now, now it's Jerry's Road. I do the same thing for my other partner and crow hunting mentor Boyd c. Robeson who passed away December 31st. 2001. I have lots of Boyd's places with names on them; Boyd's Road, Boyd's Valley etc.

You have memories that no one can take from you, Hold onto them and go from there. My dad died whien I was eleven, I had the privilage of being able to get out hunting and fishing with a friends, fathers friend in Upatate New York. He is seventy-nine now. His son wouldn't even gon target practice with us. When I first stated target practice we took old glass coke bottles with an aluminum cap. We screwed the cap on a 1" x 4" board and screw the boar onto two trees and then screwed the battles into the bottle caps. We placed carboard boxes under the bottles to catch the broken glass and started shooting them with a 22 rifle from the bottom of the bottles on up to the neck of the bottles, When we got up to the neck we would put a new bottle into the cap. He started the drive for me to be in the woods, along with other older friends that I still have today. Some passed away, but no one can take my memories of our hunts and friendships from me.
Pennsylvainia is a fine state to hunt in I lived close to Binghamton, NY and hunted PA. several years for small game & deer. I'm looking forward to moving back there for the hunting and spending the time outdoors with my kids before it my time to slowdown. I subscribe to the PA. Game News and really enjoy the articles in there. I'm looking forward to seeing post on here from you with your outdoor outings. Spending time out in the woods with a close friend or family member wiil travel with you all through life. Good luck to you my friend, <> Pat
