Yesterday I went out to shoot some coyotes. The crows were going crazy! They were flying all around, and calling alot more than usual. On the day that they were active, it was about 56 degrees fahrenheit ,sunny, and some wind (probably about 15 miles per hour). Today (when they weren't active at all) it was about 60 degrees fahrenheit, overcast at first and then it turned sunny, and heavy wind gusts (probably about 25 miles per hour). Does weather affect crow activity? And if it does, what type of weather has the best crow activity for hunting?
Most here prefer an overcast day wit intervalls of light rain. This way the sun is not an issue (blinding), it helps with camouflaging the blind if you can't put it into cover and Crows fly from the roost in smaller groups...
I could not disagree more, precipitation is about the worst weather there is for crow hunting, anything more than a drizzle or passing shower keeps them grounded. The best days are overcast to sunny with a little wind between 10 to 15 mph, a wind that lets them set up nice but does not greatly effect the performance of the calling and also cool enough they need to feed and forage.
Rain is tough on guns and equipment as well.
A great time to go is after the rain quits and the sun comes out, they do seem to want to move, dry off and feed when the weather turns for the better.

I find they love rain, and wind too, but they also come when its frosty and foggy. Sunny hot days is more pigeon weather.
Like they have a choice in your neck of the woods... Lol
They are just disorientated in the sun! "Holy feck! What's that yellow bright thing? Dunno, but I am not leaving the roost!!"
:)

I almost completely agree with you. I like overcast dry days because I can easily see the black shapes against the light sky. And I like it to be about 45 degrees, so I won't start sweating when I'm walking (because I am a run and gunner). But on sunny days, I can't shoot some birds because of the sun.
During our first deer season here in IL I noticed that the crows were going nuts in the area I was set up. For two days they were flying all around me cawing like crazy. The weather was in the low 50s, sunny with a little breeze. Then I noticed the gut sack at the bottom of the hill... So who knows what weather they prefer.

I hate fog! I have had my worst days on foggy days (only went twice on foggy days and won't go again). As far as rain, I have done Ok in very light rain.
