Anyone have any pictures of store purchased blinds that they use for crow hunting? I like to make my own but dont always have the time. When I dont have the time I still get dressed in full camouflage head to toe and try to tuck under or into the trees. Just want to get an idea of what others are using.
I have on I made, similar to the one that Bob has, I made it our of 1/2" EMT, a few hinges, and some military grade camo netting..........it works great for places that we can't or haven't built a permanent blind........it is quick and easy to set up, and it is fairly lightweight.........it probably cost me around 100 or 120 dollars to make.......
I like it. Good idea but looking for something more portable to hold two people. The crows around here will almost always fly above the decoys and circle back before getting low enough. The slightest movement and your busted.
Buckshot Did you use 3/4" emt? That blind would work good for deer & waterfowl as well. To put it together do you use steel tie-wire or plastic zip ties? I need to make one of these up. Was the military camo purchased locally? My son said he's seen it on e-bay, if found locally it would save a little on shipping. The last time I was back visiting the kids we built a blind that went on his boat using emt and burlap camo from Cabelas. We used cheaper pot-metal connectors and replaced them with the better quality connectors. It looks like you built it 4' wide, 8' long & 4' high. Is it the right heigth to sit on five gallon bucket? It is 1/2" EMT..........the dimensions are 6' Wide x 4' Tall x 3' Deep........
The back is held on with a few small bungee cords......
I actually cut 45's on the corners and welded the frame all together (after I ground the galvanizing off of course) instead of using the connectors, the hinges are also welded onto the frame.....
I bought the netting online, it was cheaper with shipping than I could get it at the local A&N store.......
4' is a little too high for sitting on a 5 gallon bucket.....we use folding bar stools like these : http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-Folding-Metal-Stool-Black/17165149

Some even use a collapsable net and pole set that is PRE assembled, and just extends out. Enabling, one, two, three or four walls for a hide. They are also quite light and much the same as the loose set, price wise and quality wise.

Buchshot Cutting the emt to 45 degreesand welding them sure would make them stronger and would eliminate the connectors and screws catching up on either the burlap or netting. I checked out the stools you use from Walmart. The price is right $12 and they fold up for carrying & storage. I like this set-up, once set up it wouldn't take much natural vegitation to make it more consealable. One built half that size would be great for deer hunting if you want to set up all day, you could leave it at your stand area untill you switched stand location. A half size blind would be good also for going c row hunting solo. I like how compact the set-up that Redditch posted, the poles are extendable and have the carrying case with a shoulder strap to keep them together and would be easy to carry long distances, the como would roll up small enough to put in a carry bag as well. The poles look like they are of decent quality. The poles & camo netting is right about 50 pounds English currency so probably $75 American. For a couple hundred bucks a person could have both set ups and have it all covered. Pat

Hmmm, I would think something like this would be ideal. Its open top instead of the usual closed top ones (open is for wing shooting, and closed is more for ground vermin shooting, deer, turkey, coyote etc)
This is the open topped one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LARGE-CAMO-POP-UP-HIDE-BLIND-SHELTER-CAMOUFLAGE-LEAF-EFFECT-SHOOTING-pigeon-deer-/190603258103?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&hash=item2c60d6e8f7
And this is the closed top one (available in one and two man versions) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DEER-STALKING-SHOOTING-HIDE-TENT-BLIND-CHAIR-CAMO-POPUP-Roe-Boar-Red-Fallow-/320947805719?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&hash=item4ab9fade17
Hope that helps. They all fold down and store in the supplied bags, and just pop up when the strap is released, and are very light weight compared to military surplus
