North Carolina Response to Obama's Anti-2nd Amendment Executive Orders
Permalink

I thought you all would be interested in how some of our officials are responding to yesterday's proclamation:

Asked if he would enforce gun confiscation, Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison said:
"We'd be obliged to enforce the law"

Wayne County Sheriff Carey Winders said:
"...obeying an executive order is not in the law, not in the Constitution, ...and I'm not going to be going around taking guns from law-abiding citizens."

Responding to yesterday's 23 Executive Orders, Senator Richard Burr of North Carolina said:

"I will fight any effort to further infringe on the Second Amendment rights of American citizens, whether it is legislation or executive action by the president.  I am open to having a conversation about ways in which our nation can address mental health issues and reduce violence, but I will not stand by while the president and others try to restrict the rights of law-abiding American citizens."

U.S. Representative Renee Elmers, NC 2nd District, said:

"President Obama is once again exploiting a tragedy for political gain and eroding our constitutional rights for the sake of an extreme liberal agenda. We need to have a serious discussion on how we can prevent troubled individuals from carrying out their insane intentions. But attacking our legal rights and liberties through abusive executive orders destroys the very principles that have protected our citizens from oppressive government power for over 236 years."

Congressman David Price, NC 4th District (now my district, I used to be in the 2nd District):

"Each of the carefully crafted legislative recommendations President Obama announced today would help us keep guns out of the wrong hands and protect the rights of responsible gun owners. I especially applaud the President for taking executive action to improve enforcement of gun laws already on the books and for pushing to make background checks universal, so that criminals and others prone to violence cannot access deadly weapons. "I will look for every opportunity, through my role as the ranking Democrat on the House Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, to partner with the White House on efforts to reduce gun trafficking. I am hopeful that Congress will have a broader conversation about ending the freeze on gun violence research, providing mental health services to troubled young people, and that we will heed the President's call to deal with the actual instruments of destruction by acting to remove from our streets military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazine clips, which have no purpose but to mow people down."

Our Governor here in Mississippi sent out a letter to the state's house and senate chairs asking them to pass legislation that would stop the EO's from the White House. The Governor and others in state have already said there is no way they will enforce any EO's in this state.

http://www.clarionledger.com/article/20130116/NEWS/301160042/Mississippi-Gov-Phil-Bryant-wants-to-block-Obama-s-federal-gun-actions

Thank God some of our politicians still have balls to stand up to the liberals.

Have y'all read whats in these EO's?? Some of them are scary.

The way I take the new - New York Gun Law it will be illegal for me to take my Colt 1911, my two Ruger Mark 2's, My Kahr PM9, and my Winchester Super X3. If so I'll probably be moving to Pennsylvania. They changed their pistol permits from life-time pistol permits to a five year permit. The life-time permit holders were checked on either every three or five years to make sure the person was still able to have a permit. I worked with a guy who got caught and convicted of a felony and as soon as he was convicted the Stuben County Sherrif Dept. was at his house ten minutes later to collect his two pistols, they didn't waste any time to collect them and that was about twenty years ago. With the computers and software they have more and faster information the ever before.

They can have all of the gun control they want it will never stop all of the stupid actions that are taking place. They shouldn't infrindge on our rights as legal-law abiding citizens. 70% of all gun violance is caused by the Mentally Instable and Repeat Offenders, Make those who have prior convictions serve longer sentencing if any crime they do involves a firearm, wheather it be a real gun, a fake or toy gun or if they say they have a gun.

TED KENNEDY's CAR KILLED MORE PEOPLE THEN ALL OF MY GUNS!!!

maybe a 'benefit' to this anti-americanism will be that sane people will move to Texas, Mississippi and other states that protect our rights, thus helping the economy in those states, whereas the nuts and crooks will gravitate to places like New York for easy pickings.

I have a lot of family members living in Texas and Louisiana. This morning my wife was complaining of the cold because we had -10 this morning. I could kill 2 birds with one stone.........or 2 crows with one shot??

Mainhunt...... -10 , aw you whimps !!    biggrin  Good thing she was talking to folks in Texas, more sympathy from that direction. smile  (just pulling your chain)....

Storm is starting. I did see the longer NRA version of the commercial spot playing in select states, and I strongly agree with him when he says it takes someone with a gun to stop someone with a gun.....http://www.nrastandandfight.com/america-agrees.html

Best of luck, fight the good fight

Friends:

If you want to see a great, daily discussion of issues with a conservative bent, especially "Gun Control" as it's called by the MSM, try the American Thinker.

americanthinker.com

Not wishing to pull all y'all from this also great site.......but there are many like-minded, totally dedicated, sober protectors of our Constitution that post there.

Now, back to painting my 30 new home-made decoys in a 25 mph windno. Photos coming.

Two weeks from tomorrow (14 days) until MI crow season!

Pennsylvania is about as American of a state that you can be in, with the exception of Pilthadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Wilkes Barre......Pa will be a big time battle ground state with this gun control stuff, if it starts going down.............The old saying is that Pa is "Pittsburgh in the West, Philadelphia in the East, and Alabama in the middle."
