Is A Firearm Dangerous?

I was deleting old E-mails and I found this gem from 3 years ago.

A female from ABC radio interviewing Australian Major General Peter Cosgrove who is about to sponsor a boyscout troop visiting his Military Headquarters.

Female Interveiwer:

General Cosgrove, what things are you doing to teach these young boys when they visit your base?

General Cosgrove:

We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery and shooting.

F.I.

Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, is'nt it?

G.C.

I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle range.

F.I.

Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children.

G.C.

I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.

F.I.

But you're equipping them to become violent killers.

G.C.

Well Ma'am, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not one are you?

The radio cast went silent for 46 seconds and when it returned, this interveiw was over.

      Now that's a come back

I went into a farmhouse once years ago to get hunting permission. Old guy there was excited and had to show me his old 94 Winchester 32 Special. Action was closed so I cranked the lever open once in hand. To my astonishment a live round popped out onto the wood floor. I said "aint that a bit dangerous". His response was "what good is a gun if it aint dangerous"! True storybiggrin

That's the news for you, once it goes in another direction they are done. We havev the same thing going on today, All Anti Gun. The minute it goes the other way the reporting stops.

My great-uncle Jake had guns all over his house. at least 2 or 3 in every room. As a young boy I was told several times, "Every gun in this house is loaded and ready to fire."  Jake used to say that, "if it wasn't loaded, it wasn't any good."

I still live my life this way.

An unloaded gun is just an over priced club.

An empty gun scares two people, I don't like being scared! If it comes to you or me, I want the advantage.
