Just thjought I'd share a few photos. Charles and I went to a farm last week to hunt. This particular farm gets hunted hard, but was basically our only option that day. The crows stay away from the trees for obvious reasons, so we tried something different. We went out in the middle of a 400 acre field and we built a topless igloo. I painted a snow shovel all white and we used it to cut blocks of snow from a packed snow drift. We wore all white clothing to hide. It wasn't a great shoot, but we got over 20 and had a great time.
Charles setting decoys, we added more snow blocks and made the blind about 18" taller after this photo.
Closer view of blind. It worked well, we shot a few at about 7 or 8 yards flying straight at us and about 6 feet off the ground :) Those made the feathers fly! That's freshly spread cow manure on top of about 8" of snow. We got another foot of snow last night.
This is just a shot of the ice piling up along the river.
Here is a nice sunset the other night.
Out ice fishing a week ago. This is a friend of mine, may look dangerous, but he's standing on at least 6" of ice even though he's that close to open water.
These are photos that Charles took of me building the blind.
This is the finished blind with me in it sitting on a white bucket. The separate blocks on top let us look just past them but still stay hidden until the shot.
Who knew building snow forts in childhood would have a practical application later in life.
Nice two season area of the country to live in, winter and the 4th of July
Hahahaaa Absolutely. Past experience is snow-fort building is definitely a plus. I just wish that I wasn't such a tiny kid, I could have never lifted those snow blocks when I was young.
How much snow did you get yesterday and last night there in New Hampshire?
Kev: I bet your blind is either the winner... or surely top 3 crow blinds every built...that required this much work/energy!! I bet those 6" high birds were a treat to surprise!! Fine post... even better pictures.

One of those low fliers was about 4 feet off the ground. It was flying straight at us. Charles counted, "Three....two....one." BOOM!.....POOF!! we both shot at the same time when the crow was about 20 feet from the blind. Feathers everywhere, very sweet.

Snow, it snowed here sunday?? i think maybe, along the coast about 4 to 5 in. inland about 18 miles 15 in. and it SUCKS!! great shoot out of the snow blind! 10gacs
We have had luck just with white clothing and no blind.
Go to WalMart in the women section. They sell a line of clothing called "just my size." The clothes are HUGE. We bought white hooded sweatshirts in 5XL. Hahahahaa (There are some big women out there) Then they have white nurses' scrub pants in 7XL. (I can't stop laughing..........:) Also bought white knitted winter hats. These clothes are big enough that they fit over several layers of warm clothing including snowmobile suits. Makes great snow camo.

There's also a "German Snow Camo Poncho" on Amazon for only $6-7, depending on the vendor (+ shipping). I bought one and it's good quality, with a large hood, elastic wrists, etc. Recommend it.

Yeah, it's a nice backdrop.........right now there is another 4 inches on the ground and it's snowing hard. We're supposed to get 15 inches by tomorrow afternoon. Then another 2-4" Friday.
