On a spur of the moment decision we made a trip to our old home place this morning. I went crow hunting and Noah went squirrel hunting. He killed two squirrels and one crow when he slipped into the field I was hunting. I did not know he was there till he shot. Sneaky little turkey! Anyway, I killed 90 this AM. Had no idea there were that many crows down there. I have no idea what they are eating as there are only a very few hay fields around and planted pines for miles and miles. Here is a pic of about half of them. The rest are buried in the grass and in the bushes that surround the hay field.

You are a Zen Master. I'm carrying around half a zoo, and I count, let's see, one... Yeah, one decoy. I take it you are of the K.I.S.S. school of crow hunting?
Greg killed 90 which is not to bad a hunt for one guy but not for two or more; just my opinion.
I guess most people who visit this site suffer a lot of bad hunts. I think Greg had a super hunt that almost anyone here would have been happy with whether enjoyed by one or more. A 100 bird or more day around this site is a big deal if you go back and read years of posts. Most folks don't have a crow population near where they live to support big number shoots. About the only apple to apple comparison you can make from one state to another is how well you shoot what you have to work with. Nice work Greg, did you have enough shells on you or did you have to go back to the truck?

Having a good sized population of crows helps, but it helps much more if there are no other crow hunters hunting in your territory! If to much pressure gets put on them nobody gets any decent shooting.
It takes plenty of gas driving around scouting and it takes money if you travel out of state for nonresident hunting licenses, motels, ammo & food. It's just how hard you want to hit it and how much push you have to do it. Any crow hunter who gets decent numbers of crows works hard at it no matter what state he is from. A lot depends on how smart you hunt, by that I mean (if you hunt flyways) picking the right day for the spot you plan to hunt that day. If a north breeze works for that spot then don't hunt it if the wind is in the south and screw it up.

Nice post on the solo hunt 8! Looks like your hunting on a golf course there and I too like your blind. Solo hunts are great, no competition, distraction, just plain old clean shooting. Thanks for sharing.
