Well, my brother-in-law and I just got back from a predator hunting (DIY) trip in Kansas. I'm not going to say which part of the state we were in but there were a TON of crows. I've seen some big flocks in PA but nothing like the ones I saw in Kansas. Anyways, now I can understand why some people on this forum shoot so many of these black bandits on one hunt. While we were calling coyotes a bunch of crows came in. They never flared even though we were right out in the open. We were calling a cross wind and they came from the downwind side and basically hovered above us for a short time. The shooting would have been as easy and I have ever had. They finally saw us and then flew away. So I messed with them a little and just hit a non aggressive crow sound and they came right back in. It's not/wasn't crow season but if it were...we could have shot many, many crows.
I'm not discounting anyone who can shoot in the 3, 4 or 500's because it's something I have never done and may never do. But I think maybe a crow hunting trip to Kansas may be in order and we could be in the elite group. Definitely seemed like way easier birds to call and shoot than the ones in PA.
