Ive been working on converting all my old johnny cassettes (I have 5) to MP3 using Audacity which is an audio software, it was mentioned by a member here that I should try. Since im not great with computer ive got a "sound" guy that I work with whos helping me move files. When I get it finished I will try and email you a copy.

Neemorebacon, if you get it done I would really appreciate it if you could email them to me too.

I'm gonna try to add them to my phone and then plug a speaker to it and use it to call with. I've also heard how good the sounds are but can't find a place to download them and add them to my phone.

Slick - I started with my smartphone and a cheap pair of battery operated computer speakers taped together, then I went to a 3-watt amp and speaker horn from Radio Shack. If you can afford it, a real e-caller will save you. My phone battery always ran low, and the clarity and volume can't compare. Lesson learned, though, was run the e-caller at low volume anyway until you are sure that there is nothing in range. Then, an occasional crank on the volume gradually backed off can get some distant crows' attention.

Thanks for the info. Were you using an iphone? I actually have a flextone echo ecaller that has a few crow sounds and it works but I need more and you can't add any to it.

Slick -

Not an i-phone, android-based. It's funny, though, my best day shooting was with the old Radio Shack set-up. That just proved to me that volume is not everything, and that crows have great hearing!

I digitized my Johnny Steward Crow Vol I & II from cassette to load on my Alpha Dogg. They're OK, but I want to re-record them because the volume is not the best. I initially recorded them using my old caller connected to the line in on my laptop. Using the old caller was trail and error to get the output volume decent without distortion. It would be better if I had a playback unit that was not going through pre-amps in order to get the proper volume level. I have a old cassette deck but it started acting up where it would not drive the cassette and given the technology, is not worth repairing.

I have been looking for the CD format of Vol I & II, just can't find it anymore.

If I can get my sounds mastered, I'll let you know.

John

I am looking for any help I can get on either getting the Johnny Stewart crow sounds from someone or figure out how to get my tapes onto MP3 with good sound quality. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

Needmorebacon,

Just found this forum and was wondering if you ever got those files into the mp3 format. Ive been trying to do this but it is too distorted to use. If you have those files would you be willing to email them to me? Feel free to send me a message.
