Well, I thought this was a pretty good set up, and I still think it was, but the crows stayed high and away.  I have hunted here before and the crows just know me too well.  My buddy doesn't hunt crows with me, but he did get up early to give me a lift to my stand in his new Kubota, and came to pick me up when I was done!

I did go to another spot for a run and gun stand with four decoys and some fighting sounds, and ended up going 3 for 3.  Hahaha - didn't even really hide, just leaned up against a tree on my bucket in a small hedgerow, and brought in a few small groups from a distance.

Seems to me if they are staying high it's because you are haunting that location. They have sharp memories indeed. Same old everything? A crow who got hit but nothing to incapacitate it will remember that for a   long, long time to come. So too will its' buddies!

If you are not haunting that location; the leaves are now gone and they can see something not quite right down there! As the season progresses to the final conclusion by now  the crows have been shot at or  seen every pheasant and or goose hunter or other crow shooting set ups by now and recognize potential danger. The other deal is is someone moving in your blind?  You might need to reenforce your blind one way or another. Stinks when  you cannot leave your blind out as others will either use it or steal the or nay cloth or burlap material left there. I found that out the hard way. I don't mind anyone using my blind when I am not around but why take the cammie stuff away?

Yep, that's what I said, they know me too well. I've hunted this island once this year about a month ago, and have hunted it several of the past few years. It's my deer hunting area, but nobody hunts anything there after deer season, except maybe some squirrels in the woods.

The only one in my blind is me, but it is sparsely brushed in. Nobody else has used the blind, but the wind took a toll since I was there last. Too bad that you have guys that steal a freakin' crow/coyote blind. That's ridiculous!

The crows there know me by name, but I thought I'd make an attempt.

Looks like a good place to set up tho,,,, I love those little island cluster of saplings in a grain field. You might try putting your decoys about 60 or 70 yards to your left or right and not putting a sentry where your blind is in the cluster of trees. They may skirt your spread and come to the cluster to investigate. I've gotten to where I ujust put my assault crows up in a big field like that and forget the sentry,,,,, fools em alot

If it were me I would have had my buddy on the atv pull a few figure 8s and tear that cornfield up a little and gave the crows something different, to look at under that snow they know there's corn Any time u make it look different increases your odds. TBC 310 this year. With a double hernia gonna be a short season. LAST LOOK

LL -

Thanks for the tip. I did kick up the areas that I placed decoys, but tearing it up more is good. My buddy, however, just had hernia surgery a few weeks ago and could not bounce around too much in his buggy! Quick recovery to you!
