I just came off of my last hunt for the season.

I was on 27 crow hunts either solo or with Dick my partner.

Our average per shoot was 217 crows.

In 40 seasons I have been on 1,503 crow hunts and shot (just my share) 151,148 crows. The grand total over the years with a variety of partners comes to 228,829 crows! These are hunts just in my company, I don't keep track of what they did on there own. 

Just dropped off my Beretta at the gunsmith to tear it down and check for worn or almost broken parts. I never took the backup gun out of it's case all season.

How are you doing with your season?

I ended up with 3,874 for my count this season.

Dick my partner is going to hunt them for another month before he calls it quits for the year.

Hoping to get serious starting Feb. just finishing up on deer. Have been seeing some decent amounts of birds for My area. Don't know what to expect, but any day afield with family or friends wing shooting equals some great times !

Will try to post about hunts as soon as I can, and by the way 3,874 that's putting them on the ground ! Congrats.

Hi Butch,

I try for at least 3,000 every year, that would be par for this part of the world. It varies from season to season, depending on the breaks you get with the weather. In all the years I only had one where I shot over 6,000 that season, I hunted solo after my partner Boyd Robeson died back in 2000. I think I started hunting with Dick in 2002.

I could still be out there for another month or so but by this time I'm sick of shooting them. When I was younger I used to hunt clear through February.

Here are two photos from February hunts back in the 80's & 90's.
