Crow Seasons???

How's y'alls seasons here in WV they gave us a split season Oct. 1 thru Nov. 23 which hardly no one can hunt in it's in the middle of deer and other seasons in the fall. Private property hunting is a no go cause so many people have family and others huntin on their property! And frankly most of us are hard at bow hunting and such.

Then they give us Jan. 1st till March 1st no limits on any seasons. I hear the NAFTA treaty with Mexico is the reason for the seasons. I grew up huntin them year round this season stuff is hard to deal with.

They ad a caveat to that season stating: "Crow - Split Season Nuisance Crows - crows committing depredations upon ornamental or shade trees, agricultural crops, home gardens, livestock, or wildlife, or when concentrated so as to constitute a health hazard and or other nuisance may be killed at any time."

Let me ask you when are crows not doing these things!!

For starters with few exceptions the fish and game or department of natural resources whatever they are called in your state rarely know anything about the crows' habits or how to hunt them. They are stuck on the government dole so even if your crows don't migrate all the way to Mexico they don't want to be confused with the details. The idea was that in 1974 when the treaty was signed waterfowl had been shot year round in mexico which naturally worried the canadians and our government. Well the Mexicans wanted something to trade with for some odd reason and they wanted not just a species but the entire family so this case was the corvides taking in Ravens and blue jays as well as the common crow....

The seasons stink to be sure. I have read in a couple of cases where the crows passed even before the season began and or the season started too late and no crows!! Personally I saw all the crows come down one day before the season ended and the oNLY place they are EATING I cannot get any permission to shoot them! The Fish&Game could care less.

I mean i have read where the season ended and then the crows passed over....this what i mean by screwy seasons. The wardens around here don't care if we shoot crows. I mean so long as the landowner don't object and we leave a message telling them where we are going to be,.,
