I can't say that I've really tried it much yet. I put a rope on the back to sling over the shoulder, but I usually have too much to carry already. Might try it before the season is done here. My gut piles have not seemed to attract anything either, though. I wonder if an "initial" sighting is enough to really get the crows' attention versus real road kill that they have already found and know is food. Can't say the Happy Meal has worked either, although I have tried it and one of the gut piles before in the center of my Triple Play motion decoy.
Anyway, I used spray foam insulation where the target insert was on the 3D deer, then while it's still wet, sprayed some red and little blue spray paint on it. Looks pretty disgusting all purple and gnarly! Hahaha.
If you got triple play you don't really need anything else except perhaps a sentry. If you have trouble pulling crows in you probably aren't well camouflaged, your camouflage don't resemble your background, you are hunting the same spot way too much? Now from what i can tell you are in hotspot otherwise for crows. but i have been reading your posts and i am puzzled...you ought to be shooting way more crows than that, with all due respects.
If you must hit the same area over and over again you might try different set ups; an owl or hawk on post with a "buster 2" below it, something like that?
I have found a different kind of call attracts crows-they will come to dying rabbit calls or the like!
Thanks for the input... I like to use the Triple Play with a larger spread if I have time. I'm pretty well camouflaged and hidden. I've been avoiding over-hunting the same spots. There are a fair number of crows in my area, but one still needs to get permission where the crows are, which can be a challenge.
I've come to learn that there are more crow hunters than I thought around here, so I'm pretty sure that the crows are fairly educated, besides the ones I personally teach. I have used Buster II with the owl on occasion with limited success. I have a huge repertoire of sounds, and I do throw in an adult cottontail or squirrel in distress from time to time if it's slow.
I do need to improve my shooting, and you are correct that I should be shooting more crows. Nonetheless, it's fun.
I pm'd rook-ie a while back about how he made his gut pile... learned a few things and decided to make my own. It to my mindless brain has seem to help I seem to see them atleast circling for a bit longer which provides me with more of a chance to shoot. I can tell you right now it seems to help most in the snow. The last two times ive been on public land with this gut pile I played crow and hawk fight and had 2 coyotes come running to the gut pile for what that's worth.
I live in an area that has a lot of long, corn, and soy bean fields! Every time I travel up and down Rt 35 I see flocks of crows on/or around road kill!
I drive out to my setup spots and unload every thing then drive a good distance away so packin it in is not a problem I'm kind of hobbled a little any how!
I just thought it would give them a little incentive to hang around and come a little lower! We'll see cause I'm gonna try it! I have a deke deer but I don't think it will work as good as the old target idea. The deke is a little to plastic looking might fool a deer but I don't think it'd fool crows for very long at all!
I like the motion of both the Triple Play (or as I call it, Tres Corvidos) and Buster II. Most agree that the flapping action is good, and some guys like to fold one wing in when using it in an owl decoy's talons.
I am tempted to put Buster II on top of my deer carcass decoy! Hahaha! Might have to try that for kicks.
I wonder how those coyotes picked up on the gut pile. I would think that it would be hard to see on the ground and it doesn't have a scent. That's pretty wild.
I agree that the gut pile in the snow is best. I try to also scrape some snow away around it. I might have to keep trying it because it can't hurt and it is so light to carry in my decoy bag.

i put the buster 2 on top of a deer carcass this weekend put a small stick at an angle and used zip tie to hang off the stick along with 2 other decoys like they were feeding, we was not having any luck due to lack of crows and them not comitting, played crow fight and the next 2 single come in wings folding ready for action, only 2 we got
