How did I modify my Edge Triple Play? I made a wired remote similar to the Buster II mod on this website, and I went to a 9 volt battery from the 4 AAs. It's pretty simple. Pictures attached.
1. Get a spool of speaker wire - I used 75 feet, not sure of the gauge. Just a simple soldering iron to attach to the inside of the AA battery box terminals. I melted a small slot in the battery cover for the wire to exit the unit, and tied a knot in the wire on the inside of the battery box to keep it from yanking out. Paint the wire if you wish.
2. Connect (crimp) a 9 volt battery connector (cheap at Radio Shack) to the end of the speaker wire on the spool, and attach a 9 volt battery to the spool - I just taped the battery on so I can replace it easily. Instead of a switch, I just connect one terminal to the battery and use the connector as an on/off switch. I also melted the Triple Play on/off switch in a permanent "on" position with the soldering iron, but it's not necessary. Just make sure you connect it with the correct polarity -- the Triple Play rotates clockwise.
