Shotgun statistics chart

I was doing some Google Earth reconnaissance and wanted to know the "max range" for 7 1/2 shot; i.e., how far I needed to be away from roads and other safety hazards. My Google search came up with this chart which contains much interesting info. Possibly some of you have already seen this or something like it.

Anyway, the NRA Safety Standard is 300 yards but it varies.....

FYI.

OA, I have that chart in my "Crow Folder" that I carry with me when I scout for new places to hunt.. I've used a few times when land owners are concerned with shot hitting structures or animals.. Good info for sure..

That chart is pretty much the standard for quick reference in the shooting community.  I used it the other day to check the location of a blind near a busy road.  I was about 15 yards on the safe side, which made the hunt much more relaxing knowing that we would not cause any problems.

One caveat for the chart:  Note that the figures DO NOT factor in the effects of wind on the shot.  This can make a considerable difference if you are shooting with a moderate or stiff wind from your back.

Hi boys,

Useful information, Craig, Mark and Demi.

I recall from my misspent youth, 00 Buck has a maximum range of 847 yards at the optimum elevation departure angle.  An important fact to know when Corporal Lone Star Phil is in your platoon and his mighty 1897 is in his hands!

That is all,
