I have been an avid crow hunter for a few years now and just recently started following this forum. This is a great forum and I enjoy being a part of it. Here are a few photos of my hunts this year.

Good work, you seem to have broken the "crow code" in terms of technique and results. Like the photos--keep them coming. The fourth pic with the impact rings on the ice and "splatter" was a beut'.

I like hunting in country (as in your photos) like that where it is easy to watch the birds habits.
I see you also hunt waterfowl as well, what do you prefer, ducks or geese?
Nice photos by the way.
So what got you into crow hunting?
I work for Ducks Unlimited here is Southwestern Ontario and know full well the impact these crows have on nesting birds of all types. I know I don't make a huge impact in controlling the population but for every crow down, a nest is saved in my opinion. I enjoy many aspects of crow hunting. They are extremely wise and hard to decoy so when I am able to get them into 10 yards I get a good sense of accomplishment.
I have been an avid waterfowler since I was knee high to a grasshopper tagging along with my grandfather in the sal****er marshes growing up. I mainly field hunt these days which means a 70/30 percent hunt rate favoring geese but ducks are my real passion. I also take the skills I've learned in hunting geese and apply them to my crow hunting tactics. I mainly hide using a layout (coffin) blind grassed in really well to match my surroundings. This has been my best weapon in getting crows to decoy well into the 10 yard range over the decoys. Also, scouting is a major part of it and much like goose hunting, you need to be where the birds are or want to be.

Welcome to Crow Busters related forum Assassin. Very few of us that pursue crows on a regular basis, even fewer here in Canada. By your photos I would assume you hunt spring summer and fall as I do. Winter as well I would think in Southern Ontario. Thanks for sharing some of your hunts and hope to see you as a regular poster!

I only hunted over water for ducks, never field hunted them.
I have a sense of accomplishment when I get (the crows) them inside of 25 yards.
Hey, since you are new check out the film clips on the bottom of "the Home Page" I am sure you will enjoy them.
Oh I have watched those clips many, many times over in the past and I love it every time. If all goes well I will have some video footage of my next few crow hunts.

My crow hunting schedule is dictated by the seasons that aren't open at the time. I chase them in the spring as soon as turkey season is over all the way into September. Once duck and goose season starts I concentrate on that and then start back at the crows mid January. January to the end of March are our best months as we have large numbers staging in various areas around here.
I love Manitoba by the way! I spend a least a week a year in Spetember in and around Russell (may venture into Saskatchewan this year) chasing snow geese. Beautiful part of the country and wish I could spend more time out there.
