so when do you all usually all it quits? For me it seems to die down around 10-1030 at the latest. I'm not sure if this is just due to the spot I'm at or not. I hear of people staying out all day. Do they just come back in the afternoon On the way back Or are the people staying all day shooting at fresh birds the entire time?
It depends on the spot and number of birds around. By 10-10:30am you got the cream of the crop and it generally will not get any better the remainder of the day. A few times I have started picking up at 9am when I can see things have changed and the crows forgot to send me a memo. Pretty sheety when that happens.
Good question, for us everyday is different but usually by 12 we are done. It's up to conditions we face that day ( hot weather, fatigue,
Obligations and so on).
It depends on the day. For corvids I usually start and set up way before first light, so that all decoys are out, hide built, and me in there by 30 minutes BEFORE first light (pigeons tend to start coming once the air has warned, while corvids are on the wing as soon as a glimmer of light breaks the horizon)
THEN, most days it's finished fighting in by about 10:00-10:30
That said, best ever day here was on corvids and pigeons combined (again, only about 10% pigeon), and I was set up by 03:00 and shot all through the day, going back for more cartridges for my mate and I FOUR times.
We shot the day through, and nod up with over 800+ birds for the day. He packed up at about 14:30 and I packed up about 16:00
He recovered 374 and I recovered 376, but there were hundreds more in adjoining fields, hedges, and trees that we never recovered.
So, there is no SET time, just go with the flow, and shoot until the birds dry up. Although, they often have 3-4 flights a day, so although they might dry up at 10:30, they might start again at say 12:00 or 13:00 again, and again at say 15:00-16:00

Yeah I set up about 30-45 min before first light also. I was setting up at first light and quickly realized that they where already where u wanted to be so now it's before light. As soon as it cools off here and stays cool I will try an all day hunt and see how it goes. I have a blind set up out of pig fence and brush at our farm in a spot with the sun behind me and wind is 9 times out of 10 at my back. I took the time to build the blind since I don't huntil crow there very often I figured it was worth the time to build a good one. That and it's the only place I can get my brothers to go and try crow hunting. Took my older brother for some run and gin in TN about a .into ago and he liked it. He is gonna start doing some run and gun there now.
Basically for me would be about 2:30 pm at the time....all the crows by now were using the southeastern roost and no idea how to get at them without disrupting the roost-something i will not do!
If you check out my "mixed bag" post from yesterday, you will find I set up there for both corvids and pigeon.
The corvids finished flying about 10:30 but I knew from the recce the day before that the pigeons would be along later (some areas there is also a second or third flight of corvids)
So I stuck it out for an hour or hour and a half of nothing, and then the pigeons came, so I ended up doubling my bag
