Some time ago I had visited Darrell Gibson at his work shop and watched him make a call.. what an experience..

I had asked Darrell if he ran into some really nice wood that I would like a collector call(s).. 

Darrell called me last week and said he wanted me to see some calls. I met with Darrell to have a look..

This is a highly figured  Maple tree that was in Darrell's yard and is the cut just above the stump..

They are beauties.. They sound as good as they look..

Wow Mark, nice calls. But did you realize when you said "I would like a collector call" Darryl heard "I would like a collection of calls" ?? Demi

Darrell is a salesman.. and he also builds some very fine calls..

I added to my Gibson collection.. if you don't have a Gibson I would say now is the time to purchase.. he has absolutely perfected his calls with continual improvements in his manufacturing processes..

Stabilized wood.

Absolute centering of the reed via a tool steel precision machined fixture.

Hand cut recesses in the mouth pieces to prevent the reed from sticking from saliva. 

And they sound perfect..

Yup, they are the best!

I keep a Gibson call in my glove box, two or three in my shooting bag, and one along with parts in my mud room.  I'm ready!!

Speaking of ready, it is now 6 weeks plus 6 days until my first "scheduled" crow hunt!  Can't wait...so I went out this morning a popped two flying over the yard.  The nuts on our pecan trees are getting close to opening and the crows are starting to come in.

Nice looking calls. I'll have to get a few. September 12 is Wisconsin opener. Can't wait.

I told Darrell I was going to post the picture of the 10 calls.. I bought two..  and told him to hold one more for me..They are his best work to date...

IMO...Gibson is building the best calls he has ever built.. 

I've got one on the way to him to be reworked.. He's a master..
