so what's your favorite decoy and why? I am using all GHG ffd at the moment but I am in the search for something a little bit smaller so its easier to carry more deeper into new areas to try. I don't know if you all use them but they are large but the quality is unbeatable. What would you all recommend?

Home made plywood. Cheap. SEP 1936 Popular Science design. They work.

Nope: 3-D and silhouettes both; same plan. Just add the wings to the silhouette. An addition to the 1936 plan is that I used small dowels made from shish kabob skewers to secure the wings.

See this posting for some examples and the website where I found the plans--if it's still active. As usual, do a search on the site--tons of info here.

I was looking at some of those today. i was thinking the same thing about them having to be flocked but I worried about the plastic "peg" that's molded into it being broken easily.

Lucky Duck decoys! They are the most realistic looking decoy I've ever seen. Hands down the best.

A shot bird on a flapper, nothing brings them in better.

A close second would be the pro flap or hydra flap decoys on a bouncer pole or in a flapper, or a magnet

I have some Flambeaus.  I flocked about 2/3rds of them.  They are pretty tuff.  In my experience, the peg will get bent if using on hard ground but generally will not crack off.

If you are looking for something ultra portable, check out BoonDocker decoys. They are getting hard to find. I think crowmart might still have some in stock.

I just checked them out. That does look perfect or more mobility. To be able to carry ~2 dozen crow decoy and an owl would be  awesome.

Wing locker do silhouette decoys at $1-$2.00 a piece. I was going to order 30x - 50x, but he wanted $50.00+ postage to the UK, so that was a none starter :(

but should be good for the USA

Not to worry with the plastic peg.  If it is damaged, here is the fix:

- Buy some 1/4" hardwood dowels - cut them into 12-14" sections - Sharpen one end with a pencil sharpener - paint black.

- Saw off the plastic peg flush - drill hole into body (slightly smaller than dowel)

- Insert dowel almost all the way in for storage or pull out to desired length for mounting decoy.

Problem solved.

I love that expression "problem solved" it's so positive!

My old pal (who passed away 5 years ago two days ago) Jerry Byroad used to say that in regard to a current problem.

I was looking at those last night after they where suggested. I think I am going to order some here in the next few weeks and see how I like them. Also I broke down and had to buy a mojo crow to see if they are bad or not. Excited to find out. As a side note they could have done a little better with the design of it.
