Check Out gearly65's Brown Crow Mount Pics Here

gearly65 sent me an updated photo of his brown crow trophy.  His mount was completed recently.  He allowed me to post a picture here.  I'll bet he will check in soon to make comments and answer any questions the crowbuster community might have.

Some of you may remember when he shot the bird, I posted some pics for him then too.  It was taken on a hunt in Feb 2014.

gearly65, feel free to tell us the hunt story again.  Im guessing folks might enjoy a few details.

Is that an American common crow?

Was that done by the guy near Hamilton? Or is this an out of our area taxidermist?

This looks to be a very rare bird. Does anyone have an idea of how many of these birds have been "taken" over the years?

I was really happy with the way the mount came out. My cousin took it to a guy who had done some turkey mounts for him. I saw those mounts and was quite impressed. I think he did a really good job. That bird was shot in Feb. 2014. Not sure how rare they are but know they are rare. Bob could probably enlighten us on how rare of a bird that is.

Thanks to Big Honkers for posting the pic for me. I'm electronically challenged.

The brown or brown & beige colored crows are rare. More so than the black & white piebald crows. The black & white ones are more common.

Tom,

Look at the photo of the fella holding the can in my crow museum; over his left shoulder is a chocolate colored crow.

Mark,

Three piebald's on one hunt is very rare, most guys are lucky to get just one. It must be a Georgia trait because here is another Georgia fish crow with a brown belly that I shot a number of years ago.

It was in "jaw ja." Not sure the "root cause.". They are really pretty birds. Tomlin got one, I got one and my dad got one mounted..
