For us that is. Hunted a new property today with mixed feelings of how we would do, plus I missed a turn and put us late in the blind. Started at 6:58 according to my amazing flip phone from an elite franchise ( now y'all might understand a bit more of how old school I am with technology). Great a:m cloudy, N wind 5 to 15, 60 degrees and never got over 65 during the hunt. Anyway crows were very receptive to the calls and came in most of the time really wanting to be in the set, so most of the time we helped them out with a load of leadshot to let them add to the set. We stopped shooting at 10 a:m and the carnage was nice to see with the light dusting of "crow snow" on the ground. We picked up 127 and took pics of them and found one more in the driveway when we left for a total of 128, lost approximately 20 plus to the Briar patches. The Son and I had a great morning, had some sporty shooting at times with the wind, which in our case causes more misses which leads to some good old ribbing and jokes. I do have pics and will post them with the other ones from the last hunts as soon as I can slow the Son down enough to show me again how to use his computer (remember flip phone user here).
Good hunt brother! Its always nice when a new property produces. Looking forward to the photos.
Do you rely on picking up birds to see how many you shot? If so, I'll bet you short change your kill numbers nearly every hunt. You need to get a clicker....probably one for every shooter.
Here is a link to some counters for .99 cents and free shipping. It is yellow but a little spray paint can fix that...its from China so it'll take a couple weeks to arrive.
Thanks for the comments Guys, forgot to mention how unhunted these crows were, which helped us a lot.
BH we do only count the ones we pick up, and have talked about gettin a clicker just haven't , usually our dead loss isn't that many but we do lose a good many that are hit and fly off with legs dangling and with fewer feathers (lol)
This is the best we've done this early so far and this area is unique and could produce some good hunts hopefully.
Ted I will take these all the time on my watch to, these rascals don't play fair and win most of the time.
Bob hope you get after them soon, on your hunts you will surpass this number quickly!
OA sorry I'm such a bad pic poster, you Guys set the standards high with your posts and pics and I really enjoy them so I've set my mind to learn this process and do a better job at it because I know y'all enjoy them as much as I do.
Great! Been breathlessly awaiting them. Was the Cart of Death buried beneath the crows? Or was it still busy elsewhere? Keep knocking their "beaks" in the dirt!

Hopefully this coming Tueday the Grandson and me will knock the dust off the "cart of death", we've been able to drive to our spots so far which has been great.
