Grandson and I got after them this a:m on an orchard, owner wanted us to try it early and help get rid of some locals that were doing damage, wanted to wait a couple weeks but also I wanted to give it a try. These birds are messed with some and will test you even at the optimum time to hunt. Weather was light drizzle at daybreak and humid at only 65 degrees, no wind for the first hour which has not been good for us killing crows. Also had the adventure of walking in about 300 plus yards with 2 carts full of gear and then remembering we forgot the attachement to hang the decoys in the trees, so grandson strikes out and winds up in the neighbors yard well away from the truck no you can get turned around before daylight in an orchard biggrin. Had some other adventures setting up but we finally made it as they woke up. Anyway shooting was good, then slow ,then average then they got real finicky and we tried everything we knew.  Picked up 48 and lost a few, Grandson did some good shooting, he is picking up all aspects of crow hunting fast, even with my inept teaching. Had a great day with him and hope for many more.

O.A. Put a pic in for you "cart of death" and the old man beside the tree is me, grandson took it and told me it was one of his favorites of me (probly cause you can't see my ugly face biggrin ) and the crow pic he has a pin oak acorn in his beak kinda strange for where we were at.

Butch, Great job! Looks like you have set the hook on another generation for crow hunting. The kids are the future of our sport. Keep it up! Demi

Excellent post Butch. Great to see the next generation of crow hunters active in the field as well!

Great photos; worth waiting for! Thank you for proof that the Cart of Death is still working hard biggrin.  Super that you can take the grandson out and he likes it--but you both know that.
