My first season as a retiree and still no birds? Scouting a week prior to season looked promising. Birds establishing as usual in usual spot. Opening day had a decent shoot, and 2 days after that another one. 118 in 2 short shoots. Duck season opened and some duck hunters shot my roost. Haven't had any birds since. We don't have any ducks at all either. We have yet to have a push of waterfowl or Crows. My birds attempted to and did reestablish about 7 miles from the normal area. I hit them once and put 55 on the ground. Have not shot it since in an effort to let them build. We simply have not had any new birds period. Never seen a year like this ever. My first year to be able to hunt every day and no birds. Go figure! Anybody else having that problem??

Been very mild thus far in the north central protion of the contenent . Have seen hundreds of crow in the city here which is unheard of this time of the year. I'm sure some seasonal cold and snow will push crows south as with the waterfowl.

Chip

While some Southeast crow hunting friends are doing well, we on the coast of SC are still seeing late arrivals and light numbers.  So far it's been an odd start for the season.  I hope it is not a repeat of the West Nile or other such reduction in numbers.

You might be waiting for a good bit Chip.

15 day outlook here in lower MI shows only 3 days with night-time lows below freezing.

...glad Im not a die-hard ice fisherman.

Yeah same here chip. I had 2 good hints this year so far in the early season. I have noticed more birds though. Not like it should be but some. I don't think we are to far from each other either. I am in central ky. Hopefully the weather is cold soon since it opens back up in the 4th.

Weirdest year I have ever seen! It just happened to be the Fall that I retired!!! Oh well Global warming cant last forever, I'm sure Mr. Trump will fix that as well. Good to see we still have a true patriot still alive in Shanedog!!!! In the end it will be the Airborne Field Artillery that will save us all!!!!!!
