BioHazard Alert

Caution: This post may be harmful to your health.

If you hunt crows, odds are that you have seen or shot a bird with crap on its back.  They roost together in trees.  I guess it is the price they pay for safety.

These birds, however, are particularly "crappy."

Enjoy my crappy photos.

These birds slept like crap.

Sorry about the crappy subject matter.

These crows had a bad end to their crappy morning.

This crappy post is over.

Must keep the birds mighty warm while sleeping though. I'd judge by all that crap that this roost s' residents have to number in the thousands anyway!

I see that up here often too. Usually when the weather is cold. Black and white crows! Thanks for sharing Honker.

This is a very rare case where the old hunter's saying "You've got to shoot 'em where they EATS, not where they SHEETS" does NOT apply! biggrin

B.H., Now I understand where your avatar picture came from!!

Those birds are coming out of a decent sized roost by the looks of the crow crap all over them.

There is no way to prove it, but I believe its a seniority things with crows on the roost. If you will notice there are always several hundred birds that stage early and get to the roost early. I believe these birds arrive early to guarantee a prime spot on the roost. Ive watched it time and again. I cant tell if it is the same birds on a daily bases, but I think it is. Most of the young birds are covered in dung. That makes me believe more in the seniority theory..

Honk,

I'd play it down as well if you don't want competition in your area. 700 that's a good one!

I'm supposed to get my two e-callers back from FoxPro today. I might as well test them out on some live birds to make sure they are set for next season. I have not hunted crows in March in over 20 years, at least the weather will be very pleasant.

So are you done for the season or are you still at it?

BH does have "competition." However, as we're both Gentlemen Crowbusters, we have an agreed-upon border between us (unless a bandit happens to cross the border, my way...heh, heh evileye). No, really, I was on another mission through BH's turf yesterday and saw 50-60 sitting in a field in his kill-zone and sent him a "Free Scouting Report."smile

Our season, Part One is FEB & MAR. Part Two is AUG - SEP. We just got dumped on with snow again so that screws up access to hunting areas. It's supposed to melt in a day or two, so then there's hope.
