been chasing duckies last few weeks but now were closed till mid november so i went after crows this morning (1st time since september) and finally some new birds have filtered in....started the morning off on a rough note....got to my spot only to realize i left my choke tube and case of tubes sitting on my kitchen table 2 hours away....so i went to breakfast and hit up the local gander mountain to pick up a choke...was back in action by 9am....set up the decoys fired up the caller and had steady action on singles and doubles and by the time the action died down at 11am i had 12 bandits down...( 9 recovered 3 lost in thick cover)....was getting ready to pack it when all of sudden a hen turkey walks out of the woods and comes right into the middle of my crow spread...and stands broadside at 5 yards....lucky for me today was opening day of fall turkey and i had been shooting up some old high brass 5's....normally i wont shoot hens in the fall....but this bird was asking for it so i dropped her where she stood..will be enjoying cajun wild turkey over rice this week...
going to try again for crows next week...

You sure did get a mixed bag. Hey what is with all the potatoes you got? Out in eastern Long Island they had a lot of truck farms raising potatoes, corn, tomatoes and lettuce when I was a kid.
we harvested around 3000 lb of potato's yesterday afternoon as part of our agreement to hunt on the farm.....they are dug by machine but we have to hand pick them to make sure we only get good potato's....little bit of hard work....but worth it to hunt the 1000 plus acres the farmer has....
Now that sounds like a good day! Between us turkey tastes better than crow anyhow. haha!
