I have 2 mouth calls one is a Knight & Hale magnum crow and the other is a H. S. Strut Hammerin Call. The Knight & Hale sounds way better, and is more crow like. Both of these calls have a bad problem with the reed sticking when used heavily. These calls are advertised as turkey locater calls, so they are not of the most premium quality. Do the Mallardtone and other wooden calls have a problem with sticking reeds or is the wood mouthpiece more forgiving?

While it won't fix an ingrained problem, try coating the reeds with Rain-X and let them dry prior to reinstalling. I use the Rain-X washer fluid and it works too.
Darrell Gibson's are the best calls IMO.
Hope this helps.

I have both a Mallardtone and a gibson. I like them both but the Gibson is by far the best call i have used. I bought just about every other mass produced calls like the ones you named and never realized how much money i wasted until i bought these. They sound SOOO much better. I havent had any problems out of mine but have had a couple of the primos and KH ones take a crap on me.
