All these crows only stay 4 months and then there is not crow one in the whole county during the off season. I hunt them until the end of January but Dick hunts through February. I don't because the bags are to small at that time of the season.
Your first pic series, #2, appears to be some sort of piebald or odd color. And, as always, your blind, standing out like a wart on a mirror, always blows my mind.

It is possible but I will never know if it was a piebald or just the sun light reflecting off his feathers, I was in back of the camera shooting the photos.
It's ben a learning one, problem is I don't think I learned much. Heat and drought conditions had us behind the curve during prime time and we struggled. Hoping Jan. will even us out, we will see. How is yours?
Dick is 82 years old now and he is not the man he once was even 10 years ago. He has acquired the very bad habit of raising his head! I show him the still photos as proof but he still does not believe me! When Dick gives it up I will be looking for another real diehard partner so I will be accepting applications when that time comes.
I hope at 82 I am still at it even if I pick a bad habit like that. Remember when the time comes to keep me in mind, I won't need much training, I am used to shooting back and forth with a partner, I bring my own coffee and snacks, I'll split the gasoline bill with you, I get up early naturally and in the field I have few faults other than I burp, fart and talk bad about women.
Bob...those are "keepsake" pictures if I ever saw any! You can be proud of them. What kind of camera do you use? Hope you will hang onto them, as I may need to borrow a few of them, as I may do another crow hunting article in the future.
There is one thing for sure that you do as well as crow shoot, and that is your work as a pornographer...oops! I meant as a photographer!
So long as you mention that I was the photographer you can use any of my photos in any article you choose. I was using a Canon digital camera with an 18mm to 270mm zoom lens. 18mm is very wide angle where you can capture everything up close.
My old pal Jerry was from back east and he stayed out here for one month a season shooting crows with me. He had to force himself to go back when the time came.
Our crow season closed on November 30th and we have been waterfowling since. Fall crow was real good, not the best season ever but close to it. We had a five day blow of high winds during the biggest week of the migration that hindered us. If that had not happened it might have been the best year. Our waterfowl season started slow as it was too warm but then it got real cold fast and the ducks and geese came with it. We can start crow hunting again in nearby Maine in late January.
Happy New Year, may 2017 be a year of crow shooting records.

Happy New Year. The coastal areas of New England where we live are generally warmer than the inland parts of the state. Early mornings can be anywhere from a few degrees below zero to about freezing, depends on the morning. If the temps are in the 20's with little to no wind it's not bad especially if the sun is out. To me wind chills are worse than actual temps, I think the wind takes the heat away from your body faster. I am fortunate I can pick my days now.
Happy New Year to you and you're partner 10 gauge.
If you are dressed right a guy can take a lot of weather. Dick & I hunt in the teens ( 13 to 19 degrees) but it takes some push to get out of a nice warm bed in the wee hours of the morning. I put a canvas tarp on the back of my portable two man blind to break the wind plus it acts as a screen from the sun so you don't get day lighted when the sun is at your back. Getting in to a spot out of the wind on a cold day is to any one's advantage.
To be more specific I use a Canon EOS Rebel T-5 with the 18mm to 270mm zoom lens. All I want is a caption under the photos in you're crow article that says ( photos by Bob Aronsohn) and that's it.
Those photos as you already know are hard to get, you need a little luck to capture a good wing shooting photo.
