Shot a few crows yesterday evening with some difficulty as cover is still sparse. Only was I met with some success when the sun got low and I was able to use shadows to mask my presence. Below a pic of 6 birds shot from the same stand. These were perhaps the fastest half dozen I have ever collected as I would estimate all killed in less than 60 seconds. They arrived in singles a few seconds apart looking for a fight. Scarcely had enough time to reload my pump shotgun. The second pic is that of the last crow of the evening...floater at 50 yards aloft which came down hard.
You've got a talent, pic's are great! I got to add that I've seen a lot of M12's and own a few but yours is a "Classic". You can tell there's a lot of stories with that one. Congrats on the hunt sounds like you were on, it feels great to have trouble staying loaded.
I was shooting an old classic pump earlier today. Getting it zero'd for jack rabbit hunting this summer on the high plains of Texas. It's a Remington M25 slide action rifle (1923 vintage) chambered in .25-20 Winchester Repeater. I was shooting factory Remington 86 gr. Core-Lokt loads and my Hornady tipped 60 gr handloads, powered by 10 grains of 2400. Maybe a slow witted crow can be neutralized with it someday, that would be photo worthy!
25-20, that sounds prehistoric Gadget Bob Found a bunch of that brass on the ground at our local range some time ago. Further, I believe a once world record whitetail was killed with the 25-20 in Norther Minnesota with the aforementioned. Have fun with your new plinker!
