I'll be in Texas for the next couple of weeks training some police departments and wondered if you were anywhere around the El Paso or Allen Texas area. I should have some time to visit if you are just a few hours away or not. I head out on Sunday so let me know. Either way I hope you're well!
I live in Big "D" and work for various shooting vendors at that Cabela's Allen store frequently. I am traveling over the next couple of weeks, starting with a varmint hunt on the Texas Panhandle over the next few days.
Give me a call at 972-897-8108 and I will see when we might be able to meet up.
Never hunted Texas but from what I've heard and researched, there is a LOT of crows in western Texas (El Paso, Odessa, Midland, Lubbock). At the correct time of year the flyway hunting can be very very good. Too bad I live so far away. Maybe some day when I have more time. Make sure you take a look around while you are in that area.
I have shot a few crow on the Panhandle, but I don't think west Texas holds the crows it did years ago. I believe changing agricultural land use (more ranching and less crop planting) is a cause of them moving. Our crows in the eastern half of the state are not steady in terms of population, but sometimes are found in good numbers. Land access and scouting is the key!
