Crow Hunting Groups on Facebook

Bob A. you're featured in the cover photo of this Facebook Group, did you start this FB page or was it somebody else here? Looks to me like it is more active than this website for this time of year.  711 members on FB that is pretty good.

Hello NH,

Charlie Tyler started "Crow Hunting Addicts" about 5 years ago. I give them my advise freely and they appreciate it as do the guys on Crow Busters.

It looks like a nice site and again much more active. Facebook is much easier to use with a phone than Crowbusters, easier to read, post, upload pictures and you can easily post videos.   Lots of interesting crow hunting videos on it. The world has moved from PC's to phones for sure. How many folks on here also belong to "Crow Hunting Addicts" on Facebook?

Never heard of it (Crow Hunting Addicts) till you brought it up. I don't visit Facebook except to look at granddaughter photos their mom puts up. Facebook has negatives as well, the main one being it takes too much time away from other activities and also, people post the most un-amazing drivel. In comparison, this site's Forum is a philosopher's (or psychiatrist's) dream. biggrin

I agree with you OA but FB "Groups" bring together people who share the same interests and those pages are quite different from individual FB pages, especially if they are actively moderated.  They are much easier to read, post and upload pictures and videos. Besides there is never any unamazing drivel on here is there? biggrin  I sent a request to join, we'll see how it goes.

Nope. I don't do Facebook. I'm sure I would like it but I do not need another reason to be on the computer. My wife spends enough time on Facebook for both of us. I did check out the group via your link and it looks entertaining.

Heck, there was even a photo with me in it on the page! (Bob's 150,000 celebration crow hunters dinner photo)...maybe I should join.

Don't do it! If you do, you're subject to growing weird hair and prone to having relations with inanimate objects. Oh wait; too late.

Sounds like Crow Busters may have run it's course. Those of you that are regulars, please give me your feedback.

Gordon ,

Crowbusters is the only site that I am a member, I dont think Crowbusters has run its course but what do I know. I enjoy this format (no drama) hunting with a touch of humor (thanks to BH & OA mostly) lol. It's a good clean site with quality members, hope you keep it going.

I say keep this site rolling...personally I don't know why people even post the things they do in a public world wide forum (face book and the like)...."Dear Diary" for all the world to see....!! The CIA owns the site and all the other public forums like that A-Z....still all you folks are talking about is crow shooting so no big deal I imagine. I'll pass . I am grateful for all the info I learned on here. I wasn't exactly in the dark regarding crow shooting of course-far from it. I could get by easily not knowing the useful tid bits too. But a couple of not so insignificant bits of info was brought out here that could make life easier regarding my 11-87 in example;the idea that one needed two different sets of "rings" to shoot high and low loads to ensure the proper functioning of the gun.
But what ever works for you and are happy with it by all means rock on!

I frequent Crow Busters when there is something to say. It is a most informative site and as we all know things are always slow at this time of year. Seems like every September things start to pick up so be patient.

Crow Busters was the first of it's kind thanks to Gordon Krause and is still the premier crow hunting site. That being said there could be some changes made so uploading photos could be made easier and faster. Looking at it from both sides trying to be objective I would say "what do you want for only 10 bucks to join"

I think there is room for both CB and FB Crow Hunting group pages.  As I said in a previous post a large segment of the population has moved from the Computer to the Smart Phone.  The FB app allows one to read posts, make posts, upload pics and videos far easier from a phone as compared to CB.  Younger people lean towards phones.

What are your goals and objectives for CB and are they being met?  There are several advantages to CB, anonymity for one.  It is also easier to search CB for old posts and given the number of years this site has existed there is lot of good historic info here.

I have been around this site long enough to remember it went through a fairly significant revamp a number of years ago.  Is it time to consider doing that again and making it more phone friendly for uploads?

Compared to some other sites dealing with firearms, uploading photos on this one is easy (one doesn't have to use Photobucket, furious for example, which is a real pain...).

CB run its course? That statement scares me.

If Crowbusters shut down part of me would die.

Another thought:

I hope someone posts about Crowbusters over on Facebook. Sharing the advertising love would be a good thing.

Gordon,

Could you make this a separate thread ? It's kinda hidden in this post and I think you will get more responses to your question.

That guy is from Minnesota.

If you look at the birds he has shot (that are laying next to his shotgun) they are all young birds. You can tell by all the grey feathers around there neck area. At this time of year even a mediocre crow caller can get some results. I liked the camera work I just wish there was more of it on the action shots.

Seems you know just about every crow hunter in the country Bob LOL!  You would think a guy who goes by "Crowman" would be or have been on this site.

Facebook is a simple way to get alot of "forums" in a single place.

10ish local gun "viewing" groups.

Car groups of every kind

Local yard sale groups

Local car for sale groups

Pigeon, Crow, Varmint, Long rage, shotgun, AR etc. hunting groups all within a few clicks.

BUT, and if I could make that larger I absolutely would

an actual website will have better storage of information, are not necessarily controlled by people that don't like what we are doing, and are more easily accessible to people with information worth sharing, but maybe not know, or be interested in learning, how to post on FB.

Not with me it hasn't. I won't do facebook as I figure I am good enough and get by really well here. If facebook is anyones' bag well more power to them. If you close this well it's been interesting and was here when I needed it the most!

I, too, would hate to see this forum end.  As mentioned earlier, there is a lot of history archived here for quick reference as well as a lot of cross-pollination that has helped most of us.  In addition, the site has formed friendships that I truly value.

One prediction: Because Facebook management is so liberal leaning, I believe it won't be long before their political correctness efforts extend to their Crow Hunting and other hunting, guns, varmint, etc. groups.  These groups will surely be shut down within months or a very few years!

Keep up the great work on this forum, and may it outlast the current liberal history revisionist, book burning, blame America first movements!
