Had an interesting hunt on Monday. A close friend who sells fertilizer has helped me connect with several farmers with crow problems. One of his friends said he had some, so I asked both of them to come along on a hunt...this trip was more social than about crow numbers. The farmer is a well-heeled man who is involved in many ventures, including peanut farming, sod farming, Centipede seed production, quail & dove hunting along with many other hobbies. I scouted out a good peanut field and set up a blind (first picture).
Because peanuts are a big crop in that section of our state, the birds were spread pretty thin. We sat around telling stories and, when we got to 10 birds in a couple of hours, we decided to do a little running & gunning...on his other farms. It was more like a guided tour. We first went to one of his many sod farms and watched the latest computerized sod rollers. The driver does nothing (not even drive) but monitors the computers and machinery. Took a couple more birds at an adjacent dove field.
Next, we visited his seed fields and watched a large combine harvesting centipede seed on the way to the next dove field. He is the largest producer of centipede seed in the world! A couple more birds down.
Next stop was at his air strip (another three crows), then on to some quail woods (two more down), the on to his duck pond and lodge (one fish crow killed).
The final and most interesting stop was at his converted grain bins. He took a group of 4 abandoned grain bins and converted them into a man cave beyond compare! Note the round pool room and media room complete with plush easy chairs.
We only found 20 crows, but I did find that there can be big money in farming! What a fun day it was!

He did a very nice job in the interior of those old grain bins. Loved the pool table what a wonderful man cave with the deer mounts above. Your blind blends right in, looks good.
