I should have made a report on a couple of average (for here) hunts, but was lucky to make those with other busy-ness interfering.  Also have one tech report on some successful home-made motion decoys. Will get there, if things ever slow down a bit.

No excuses, Sir!

I am guilty of not taking as many pictures this year.  We had the warmest October on record and it delayed the migration which seemed nowhere as strong as many years past.   When big groups of birds did move south they were at a much higher altitude and would not come down into shooting range.  The result was a 50 to 60% lower fall harvest on average for the same amount of time in the blind.  Our best day was 44 birds which is good but we should have had quite a few 40 birds days and two to four much better days, 80 to 120.  Those better days never came this year.  By NH standards we still shot a lot of birds, just not what we are accustom to. It was hard to get excited and share the sub standard results we experienced but as always it was nice to get out.

I was raking leaves and burning them in the backyard yesterday and it reached a high of 84 degrees! Less than a week before I was hunting in the morning with my partner and it was 15 degrees and by 1:00 p.m. it reached 40 degrees outside! Crazy weather!

Our two big days this season so far are 552 and 640 but both were morning and afternoon hunts combined.

Hey: even at 40 birds is way better than anyone else in the good ole' granite state. I am never  too embarassed to post my utterly pitiful showing! In any case you can punish the early fall migrants when they come back in this-your area- as they are usually more strung out in March and where ever else you go so you'll do right nicely! I never read of a mediocre spring shoot from you two anyways.

We have had less than stellar winter/spring seasons in the past due to a deep snow pack that prevents access to our spots or even parking along side the road.  Snow sucks in many ways.

My season is closed until February.....and even then way up North and dead of winter I don't expect many crows to be here then.

My time will come again next summer.

Butch, I'm always out for the crows. Just that members here would likely get tired of seeing my 15 or 20 KIA's over and over!
