Big THANK YOU to Mainehunt for helping me get these up!! This is really my first year of crow hunting. My TBC was 24 for the season but I learned something new everytime I hunted.
Hunting solo and using hand calls the biggest thing I noticed is that a second gun in the blind (and a second set of eyes) would have REALLY boosted my TBC.
I'll take more pics next year and maybe even be able to post them myself! Thanks again Mainehunt!
Good job ! It's also a one man show every time i go out. To many get away, definitely need that second set of eyes, and extra firepower ! Best of luck to you next season. Decoys ??????
Hey Camo, Yes, I usually put 2 or 3 as high up in the trees around me as I can get and then 5 or 6 on the ground out front. With my limited experience it seems like the ones in the trees help the most as they really seem to keep the crows attention as they come in.

The most difficult hunt I had was that first pic with the 2 crows. This was in an open field and I had no trees to hang decoys in or conceal me. The crows were looking right down into my blind so when I moved to shoot they would immediately see me and flair-off. - made those suckers really hard to hit!!! I don't know how Boba does it in the open like that....

A couple well place decoys up above the surrounding vegetation will be far more effective than dozens on the ground. If your caller is silent and you have crows casually saunter into your set up one knows his deeks are well placed. Too many guys shoot crows like they do ducks...that is a few dozen decoys placed in front of a blind with the traditional "hole" in the middle. Crows are not waterfowl...get your deeks up high and tight IMO.

I think you're right, Ted. Even in my short history; on almost every hunt I have had I have just been sitting there quietly eating a snack and sippin some coffee and all the sudden a crow or 2 is landing in the tree by my decoys. Hence, my pants get a shade darker brown every time I go... but at least a smell like a coffee shop.
