Not cause’ I wouldn’t head out again, it’s that there will be worship commitments or poor weather through Sat.
However, this morning was just about perfect for a March hunt: 38 deg., no wind, and overcast. Typical blueberry field setup and typically highly-educated locals, except for four low and slow types who dropped in hard, and permanently. We fired a total of five rounds. Larry got three bandits in his sector and missed one, and I downed one in mine. We were skunked by two. Not a bad percentage for the day. The one absent from the photo must have woke up and hopped away, as he was nowhere to be found—more yote’ fodder. Their educated brethren continued to cuss us out about ¼ mile south until finally it became totally quiet around 0900. Anyway, the sun came out and spring arrived.
Throughout Michigan, we’re all going to have the withdrawal shakes until 1 AUG. Oh yes, there will be some relief with turkey season in about another month. But, spring turkey in Michigan is usually only a one shot season. Sigh…. I guess, off season I'll do a report on the whirley and Buffy Bat projects that really worked well this season.
Good luck to the rest of y’all, and keep “knocking their (a-hem) beaks in the dirt!”
