The Oasis, as I have nicknamed it is about 1000 acres of standing corn, tucked in a bottom, in-between the mountains of southeast Oklahoma. There is also a pretty good spread of pecan trees on the property. All of this adds up to a good opportunity to roll a decent amount of bandits close to home.
My normal hunting partners, Uncle Bill and Colt couldn't make the hunt or didn't want to. So, I gave a life long friend a call and we hit them at daylight this morning. This being the second go on these birds I didn't know what to expect. The first hunt produced 46 KIA's and set a new TBC for us. The crows began coming to the field and the shooting was pretty good for the first hour and a half but faded pretty quick after that. These suckers didn't suffer from memory loss it turns out. I wanted to get to 50 but it wasn't looking good as we stalled around 38 birds. With a lot of calling and some decent shooting we ended the hunt at 12:00 with a TBC of 53.
It was a lot of calling and a lot of time between target opportunities but a good time to shoot the bull and enjoy a nice morning.
Some "Crowgopuff" pictures. Demi gets the credit for coining that term.
Good report and great pictures! It is a very good hunt when you can return to the scene of a crow carnage event and improve on your previous numbers!! Your march to the Centry Club continues... With all your enhanced gear and knowledge, it won’t be long now.
BTW, I give credit to Jerry Tomlin for the Crogopuff tag, but thanks anyway!
Demi
