I live outside Hennessey,OK and I am having hell finding any crows. I usually hunt crows around Jennings ,OK and have no problems finding some takers. Is just the lack of cover around here that makes them scarce? You would figure with all the ag fields they would be around. i just want any advice on locating them to hunt them. But if I don’t have them I am not wasting my time around here.
Jon, I'm about 40 miles east from you & have the same issue. It's hard to find large numbers close around here. My guess is that it's all about the food supply. If you want large numbers you'll probably have to travel. You may want to do some scouting west of you . I spent a day bird hunting in medford 2 weeks ago & never saw a single crow while up there. good luck.
Camo, you are half-right. It's all about either food or sex, and the sex part is so widely distributed, that it makes more sense to concentrate on finding the food sources. That's my 2 cents worth, anyway!

In most cases when I check out a new area it turns out to be a wild goose chase. What keeps you going is that odd time when you discover another hot area.
I have been on two wild goose chases this season checking out new areas and driving almost 200 miles one way!
About 15 years ago I took a run down to Wichita Falls Texas because this guy said he saw thousands of them around there! It turned out that he was seeing Grackles not Crows! So that is the way it shakes out in the pursuit of another hunting area. You just suck it up and keep looking and hope you don't go broke with all the gas you keep putting in the tank!
