I recently heard of the ff5/ff6 decoys. I've been thinking about getting one. What's the difference between the two? Is one better than the other? Are they worth the money? Also what about their auto bouncer decoy? Would it be any better? Any thoughts on any of their other decoys?

It is my understanding that the difference between the 5 & 6 is that the older 5 uses a smartphone app to operate the unit remotely.  The newer 6 includes a small remote control fob to operate the different features.  Each have variable wing flap speed, on & off times/delays, etc.

Do you need one to hunt with?  No, but you don't need power steering or power-assisted brakes in your car, either.  The flapper is the single best accessory behind your shotgun and call.

What about the bouncer or other decoys?  Cannot tell you as I only have the FF-5, but if you are like me, after using the flapper you won't be thinking you need any other hardware or upgrades.

Hope this helps,

Demi

Everyone is looking for that "ultimate" decoy that'll magically produce crows when there are none to be had....true enough if your area is heavy hit then you really need whatever will bring them in!

I prefer uneducated crows myself but I don't know anyones' circumstances. I use different ideas when I go as I don't have too many places  to go in my current scenario before we talk  overnight miles away. So I understand the need for extra gimmicks....but whatever works. My single advantage is there are no good mouth callers in the area. The best they can manage is the typical:"CAW-CAW-CAW" through the PS OLT plastic call I used years ago. And man oh man having that was a real game changer! No one else could do it. But here here again-whatever works just do it. All I am saying is  this is what works for me. But I encourage anything that works for anyone. JUst remember you got to have the crows and do everything else right.

I agree with everything thing Demi has stated above. My experience with mine is that seems to bring in even the more weary birds and mine is going out every time I hunt from a blind, love it.

Hi guys,

I agree with all of these posts.  I love my FF5 and have branded it a game changer!  It really pulls them in close, and I appreciate Skip bringing this extremely effective crow hunting device to my attention.

I think Demi may have flip flopped his FF5 and the FF6 desriptions.  My "five" has flapping speed and the intermittant frequency knobs on the base for adjustment.  The FF6 offers bluetooth connectivity so you can drive it from your smart phone.  I have an FF6 on order right now with Nick at FlightLine Decoys.

And I too never hunt without my FF5.

Regards,

Bob

 Bob,

This is new info. My FF5 must be a late model, as I use the phone app and there are no knobs on the flapper. Didn’t know the 6 uses it, too as I saw the remote fob on their website and assumed it is all they use. Looks like we are seeing evolution happening right before our eyes! smile

How has the FF5 or FF6 worked out this season for you?

Are you using a real crow as your decoy body on the FF6? Or is there another artificial decoy that works good with the Flightline machine?

Two options: Use the first crow you kill to load the FF6  or: Keep one from your last hunt in your freezer (thaw prior to mounting).

You can't have a better decoy than a real bird!
