Enjoy - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1EF5GFMS0g

Skip's antique computer is failing, so he asked me to post his awesome crow hunting video from "Carolina All Out"!  He has still got it, and David's shooting is also excellent!  What fine ambassadors for our sport!  Let them know your thoughts on this video, please.

There is a reason for this. Both Skip and David are competitive sporting clays shooters. Skip has shot his way up to Master Class which is the highest level. David is just below in AA Class and is close to punching into Master Class, too. They work hard at improving their shooting skills and it shows in both tournament scores and high TBC’s when hunting.

Skip is also an expert rifleman who served on the All-Army Rifle Team from 1969-72.

The term “Crack Shot” would be in order!

This was a very well done production. The interviews were well done and I loved the film footage from the drone flying from above.

Skip and I shared a hunt about 17 years ago where we had shot over 300 crows and going strong when the crows started to flare every time they were headed in. Some farm kids snuck up on us and thought it was funny scaring the crows! I had to restrain Skip from giving them the reprimand of there young lives as there relatives owned the ground we were hunting on! That is all life is about, making lasting memories.

One last note, it was very refreshing to watch a hunting production where the shooters could shoot!

Bob A is quite correct! We were in the middle of having our position overrun by crows despite high losses amongst their ranks when kids showed up behind us flaring all the birds!! This was a major infraction in crow decorum and yes, Bob did  remind me it was THEIR land! But what Bob left out was... we did "harvest" 300-plus that day but it was just one of 5 consecutive days where we put 300 on the ground for a total of 1,542 TBC! My memory from 17 years ago might not have this total correct but I promise Bob A's record keeping has the correct figure!biggrin

Thanks to Gadget Bob for posting the show. It is always a privilege to be associated with the Texas Crow Patrol... remarkable people all!

Demi's kind remarks were also greatly appreciated!!. What he forgot to say is he is our resident "best of the best" clay bird assassin; travels large portions of this globe bustin' clays; an avid crow shooter 1st Class, a man of high faith and one of the many folks who are our CB brothers in arms!

No use trying to describe how much fun (and what an experience for us ) making that show! Chris Douglas, the host of the show and main videographer said his job was turning s--- to shinola.. .and he had a challenge! Chris was one of the main videographers for years.. for Jim Shockey so we were in good hands! My first crow hunt was in June 1956. Would I have ever thought that 63 years later I would find myself in a crow shooting TV show..remarkable!!

The location of the show was the same farm (peanuts) where David and I killed 255 three years earlier and we knew peanuts would be planted there again last year. We visited the field on the Wednesday before the filming to set up blinds, etc. and there were at least 300 birds using the field. But 48 hours later most of the birds had moved on to our surprise. Crows using a harvested peanut field often continue feeding for a month or more but fortunately enough remained to give Chris the level of shooting he thought sufficient. David and I were not as satisfied as you might guess.

Thanks to everyone for their kind remarks!  Crow season is just around the corner!!!

Skip, last summer I visited Demi with a friend from South Carolina.

Demi is a wonderful host and I felt so at home at his modest abode with the boat dock in his backyard! We ate crab legs right out of his traps on his property.

He has a wonderful clay bird range and we both burned some powder on those clay targets. It was a very nice experience for my life long friend Mike and I on Edisto Island SC.

Skip had sent me the video also I’m going to have a talk with him and David. I watched the video over and over and nowhere did I see one of the calls I made for them around their neck and he didn’t slip a word in to promote my calls.  LOL just kidding skip but I did look close to see if you was using one of my calls. You and David make it look so easy  good shooting

Daryal, when someone excels at what they do they do make it look easy.

It's a pleasure to watch in any sport that you are into because you know how hard it is to get to that level.

So true Bob, quite a few years back I had gotten into compound  target archery just to keep in form for bow hunting , my son was at 13 yr old  he would shoot with me. The more he shot the better he got. I coached him and by he was 17 he had won several state championships. On the local shoots he would shoot in the adult class against me and other grown men and make a fool of us. About that time girls came into play and that was the end of his shooting. That’s when I decided to really start shooting myseft. From 1996 to 2001 I had won 6 state championships 2 southeastern championships. 1997 SC  IBO archer of the year,  because a change in jobs I had to stop for a while. After retirement I started building tradional bows and started back shooting again I have won the N.C. state championship 2 years since then with bows that I have built

Daryal: There were no "close-ups" of my string of calls ( 3 of them ) due to pressure, in the form of "cash" from FoxPro not to demonstrate a superior crow calling device--one of your calls! So all video of me using your calls had to be edited out for economic reasons. Am sure you understand. You did notice, however,  that all of the mouth calling that made the video was done by David. All of his calls were made by the famous mountain man and perfecter of crows calls himself... Mr. Darrell Gibson. His calls are now considered "antiques" and consequently they got a pass from the editors!! As we all know, Darrell's calls occasionally do call a crow when used properly. In fact I can remember in 1996 I actually called TWO crows with a "Gibson" at one time!! Both birds came in laughing at the sounds I was making...and flew off never getting into range. I immediately retired that call, placed it in a plexi-glass case on my mantle. It is still there.!!!biggrin

OK..I could not resist! biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Truth is FoxPro had nothing to do with what was in the video! The 3 mouth calls I use are a combo of yours and Gibson's and a Turpin. All of David's are Gibson's. Those calls over the near 20 years David and I have been shooting crows have lured enough crows to their demise to pay off the trade deficit with China! Don't know how many David has, but I have roughly 45 Gibson and Gosey calls on display in my crow museum.. jewels all and every single one of them a work of art. We are fortunate to live close enough to where Darrell and Daryal live to have had several visits with them over the years. ..truly remarkable folks!
