Uncle Bill and I made the local tour the past couple of days, I couldn't get Colt to come along. He says it is to much walking and his legs are to short haha.
We started on them yesterday morning. There was a front coming through and we had enough time to get three stands in and killed 24 before it started raining and rained the rest of the day.
Today we had no rain to slow us down, we also had a good 15 mph west wind blowing which really helped. We made eleven stands, covering about 35 miles from East to West and killed 72 today. We got into some really soft birds and was able to rack up some really good numbers for R&G hunting. We killed 27 in one spot, they just kept circling back for more and we kept knocking them down. I ran out of ammo and had to make a dash for the truck on that stand while Bill kept whacking them. Some of the spots we had high hopes on turned out to be big fat ZERO's, someone beat us to them.
I had intended on gathering all the crows up on each hunt and taking a picture, but that turned out to be a big pain in the butt and would of took to much time. I did get one picture of Bill in the spot where we killed 27.
We had a blast! Bill loves shooting crows as much as anyone on the planet. Every time a bird is shot, if you listen you can hear him giggling. I finally talked him into getting a 12 gauge and leaving the 20 gauge at home and he was knocking them dead today.

Dale,
That's a good couple of days. You know fun is being had when grown men giggle like a couple of school girls. And you know the shootin' is soft when the gigglin' starts before the shot.
That is a strong day of R&G. Lots of stands too. Congrats, your efforts paid dividends.
The giggles. Interesting topic. I probably do not giggle as much as Dale's uncle but I am quite guilty of that for sure. I do it whether hunting alone or with a partner. It just organically comes out. Commentary too, when hunting alone folks might think Im loony if they could hear me talking to myself about what a tough shot that was or about how big of a feather-poofing smash shot I just made.
Randy is right about the giggles before the shot too...
It is the most I have ever killed run and gunning, by far! We could of easily killed over a hundred had we had another, somewhat competent shooter along to complete the death triangle as I call it. I am also glad to know that the self talk and all that does not mean I have some sort of mental problem and that it may just be a trait of a crow hunter.
