Dale and I made a trip & spent a couple day's wacking crow's. He's working on the video he took of us & when he post's that it'll tell the shooting story.
What it won't show is him getting his ass chewed out by the farmers wife !!! That was one for the record book ! There is something about a woman being woken up to gunfire early on a Sunday morning that made her a tad bit upset to put it mildly. I'm glad i stayed in my blind about 200 yards away and could still hear her yelling at him even with my ear muff's on !
Apparently she tore into her husband for letting us hunt there on a Sunday morning & he didn't help matter's out by telling her it'll be ok honey, how about fixing breakfast now that you're up !! LOL ! ( can't make this stuff up )
We have some good shooting video but i just wish we had the farmer's wife on film ! Dale can follow up with ALL the detail's & the note on the windshield. We definitely won't forget that place. Paul.
As Paul has mentioned, I got us into a little trouble with a certain farmers wife. I found the place in question on Friday and met with the owner and he welcomed me to shoot crows "anywhere" on his place as long as I shot any hogs I seen as well. So, Sunday rolls around and we headed for this farmers place. I had picked a spot out Friday that I thought would provide all the necessities for a decent crow shoot. As I would soon find out I failed to take a very important factor into consideration on our blind location, his house and more importantly his bedroom with his sleeping wife which was on the North side of the house and the side of the house our blind was positioned. We where at a minimum of a quarter mile away and probably a little further than that but our muzzles pointing to the South and the calm wind didn't help us any.
So, we are banging away and I notice a truck pull up to my truck and someone get out. I killed the call and went to see who it was and to make sure they knew I had permission to be there. Well, I ran right into one pissed off woman who informed me to call her husband ASAP and that we had screwed up her day to sleep in. I apologized and tried to smooth things over but she hopped back in the truck and speed off. About this time her husband was coming down the road, so I waited on him to tell him I was sorry for causing him trouble and that if he wished we would pack up and move. He said we where fine and next time don't set up in that spot on Sunday morning.
The end.
About the hunt:
I will take an ass eating like that every day if I can shoot crows and especially really soft crows like we got into on this little morning adventure. This late in the year I didn't think it possible to find softies like we got into at this spot. We shot 64 in 3 1/2 hours minus down time for getting my ass chewed on.
I bet if you told the farmer's wife just how much happiness you brought to others across the country with your shooting (and video), that she would forgive you.

Both a great story and video! Sometimes the adventure is in the chase or the numbers or even getting stuck on the way...this time it was the Wrath of Jennifer!! 😳
Dale, I’ve got to say your videos are getting better with every posting. Very impressive!!
I nominate this to be the thread of the year!!

I'd like to act all tough and say that I wasn't a bit worried as I approached her that morning. I am here to tell you I was searching the recesses of my mind trying to figure out a way to deal with this very mad woman. I was willing to go into battle to keep shooting that morning though.
Thank you on the compliments. I am slowly learning the camera angles, editing and so forth.

That's some really good footage Dale. It does a good job of capturing the essence of a crow hunt and you and Paul looked like you had a good set-up. Much appreciated.
Does that note contain classified information? A portion looks to be redacted.
You know, that note reminds me of a time that I got a “love note” left on my vehicle.
I was hunting locally, only 10 minutes from the house. It was a decent shoot for so close to home, I think 20something were killed. Anyway, the landowner’s lady of the house left me a self righteous letter telling me how she loved all the animals of the world and that we humans need to respect all of God’s creatures, even the crows. Lol, oh boy.
...the best part was I was hunting with her son and she didn’t know that! Ha!!
Dale, 44 inches tall is much to short, if they were using there noggin it should be at least a foot higher. But you still make it work for you!
How does it hold up if the wind comes up? Say 10 to 20 mph ? Since it is a curved structure there might not be as much wind resistance as my blinds. To stop my blind from blowing over I put two old 12 volt batteries on the frame that sits on the ground and that holds it in place quite well on breezy days if you are not directly out of the wind. I saved my two ole marine batteries that I used to power my old custom tape players back in the stone age !

I would of loved to seen your buddies look of shame when you guys got back to the truck and he realized it was his mommy who left the note. Is he still hiding under a rock somewhere?
