I was thinking I forgot how to read or that there was a new English language I didn’t know about. Broken space bar of lack of use is probably the more likely cause.

If you do a search for "Amsterdam, NY crows" there are more stories, some dating quite far back, on how our feathered targets friends are messing up that fair town. Fun reading.

About 12 or 13 years ago I hunted crows around Geneva NY because the ones around Auburn were spooked to death due to the hazing at night.
When the city hazes them you can forget about them responding to a call! It's a shame for the guys that want to hunt them in NY State.
Like any roost (I suppose) I imagine there are the "commuting routes" where hunters would set up at a good distance from the roost. Was that the case then, or, did they remain in town to forage?

The crows from the Geneva roost were not hazed that is why we pulled out of the Auburn area. Geneva and Auburn are 40 miles apart from one another. The Auburn crows were spooked no mater in the city limits or outside the city limits! Jerry and I could see that after both a morning hunt in one area and an afternoon hunt in another area that we were spinning our wheels and headed for Geneva the following day.
It's very pretty in the Finger Lakes region of NY.

It is a pretty area of the country and an area with a rich history of gun making in the 19th and early 20th Century; Baker, Ithaca, Lefever and Hunter Arms (L.C. Smith).
