I am tying traditional Southern Appalachian trout fly patterns for a Trout Unlimited chapter.  There is a very old pattern from North Carolina or Tennessee (not uncommon to have multiple sources of origin) and the main ingredient are crow primary or tail feathers.
These are not available commercially and I only need a half dozen or so.
Does anyone have any I could acquire?

Thanks,

Tom

Tom,

The problem is that due to Federal regulations, it is unlawful to possess, sell or transfer crow feathers as they are classed as migratory birds.

Similarly, I would love to have/make a “crow tie” made from the same feathers, but don’t want to face heavy fines and/or loss of hunting privileges should a game warden or a concerned anti-hunter see me wearing it.
