Hey fellas its been some time since I’ve been on, I just had C5/C6 repaired October 5th, Dr said I can do whatever I want just need to wear my brace till January. He was very vague. I can’t lift anything over 10 lbs. Do you think I can hunt? I use low brass #7 to Crow hunt. Many family groups here in Waynesboro Ga. I’ve watched family groups triple in numbers since spring. Peanuts are being harvested and soil is turned the next day. Good numbers here plenty of cover, I’ll have to run and gun. Any advice will be appreciated.

Terrell,

Disclaimer: I am not a physician nor do I play one on this forum. First and most important recommendation is to heed your doctor's advice!

Having said that, after an injury and repair at C7/T1, they put in a spacer and removed bone fragments, etc. from my spine. My recovery was flawless and it cured what was ailing me. Hope you have similar success.

As a competitive sporting clays shooter and a hunter, I shoot lots of rounds...mostly 1 oz. loads for sporting and 1 1/8 for hunting. I discussed shooting times/amounts with my doctor (who was also an occasional shooter). He suggested that I wait for at least 6 weeks to return to the gun, but his staff doctors wanted me to wait longer. After 6 weeks I felt fine and started back. It's been a couple of years and there have been no ill effects. Also, I never needed a brace before or after surgery.

Hope this helps,

Demi

Thank you Demi , I’ll call the Doctors office and speak to his nurse to verify it’s ok to hunt. Season opening November 15 here.

I spoke to the Dr today, this type of cervical fusion needs 3 months to fully heal. He said if I were deer hunting and shot 1 time that would be fine. But because I’ll be using a 12 gauge repeatedly it could cause injury. Guess I’ll wait 😔
