This is just my opinion, but I think gas and ammo prices have shut a lot of guys down this season so far?

Let's hear some feedback?

Not me, I'm still in ! I'll make sacrifices on something else to balance the budget.

Not me either. Like Camo, I'll cut corners elsewhere if needed.

That won't however, stop me from growling about the cost of fuel and its cause. I've got a stack of shells saved up and I don't intend on letting them get dusty.

So far it's less than a hand full of hunters that feel as you and camo do.

We are in the split closed season now, waiting for Feb 1 to reopen. I only hunted crows once in September though. Pigeons have slowed my crow hunting to a crawl :)

Hey guys it’s been a while since I’ve busted Crows, I’m on the West Coast working. Due to my work schedules, season dates, and very low population of birds have prevented me from hunting. Only public lands available here. No food source’s available. With the Ravens here everyone I’ve spoken with can’t differentiate Raven’s

I was fortunate to buy up a lot of ammo years ago. So ammo is not an issue for me for a number of years.. The issue I/ we have is the weather and lack of rain. Also lost a few places due to weather and landowner not managing orchards ( putting money into). So no burds...

I don't see much interest on Crow Busters this year as compared to previous years?

Either it's the economy or some guys have become demoralized because of limited land access ?

Competition is another factor, when you have other crow hunters hunting the same birds as you nobody gets nothing.

I noticed the lack of interest also, Oklahoma has a split season so no crow shooting while the the deer rifle hunt is ongoing. I've got a few places on my radar I want to hit as soon as season opens again. I've found that some times patience is a virtue because it seems the birds gather in larger groups later in the season as the food sources become more limited. Makes for more numbers on the clicker. Hopefully no one else has disturbed them. Paul.

Well here it is the 10th of December and nothing going on.

Many who were really hot for the sport 5 to 10 years ago you don't hear a peep out of anymore ? It's very uncommon for people to stay with the same interest their entire life. Many find other interests that thrill them more than hunting crows. Perhaps the true diehards that stay with it for decades have nothing else that excites them more than hunting crows.

I have other interests and enjoy the game of pool quite a lot but my enthusiasm level is much greater for wing shooting.

Crow hunting went off the charts up until about 21 years ago when Crow Busters first started. It was the beginning of a new era and I suspect that that era has come to an end. Things may stay dormant for the next 20 years and then you will see a new generation of shooters take an interest in the sport just like it did back in 2000. I could be all wrong, only time will tell !

Hey Bob! I haven't quit yet! I'm kinda in the same camp with Paul. Doesn't seem like we really get good numbers of birds (for Mississippi) here until later in the season. I very likely wont have my first hunt until after Christmas. This year has been especially warm here. We have had the A/C on all this week! I think I can count on one hand the number of frosts we have has so far. Someone tell Ted to send some winter our way!

I hunt closer to home and don't use premium ammo now. I miss my Nitro 27s, there is a difference.

We are just about ready to wrap it up here .... still enough shells for 1-2 seasons ,,,, I noticed that there are some $8  shells showing up at Walmart , and steel is back under$10 at academy...... I look at it this way ,,,, some guys go bowling for a 25 week season and spend at least $20 bucks a week plus food & drinks .... I buy 6 cases of shells and get to go everyday if I want to .... and sometimes twice a day......

It's all how you look at at it .... when this Pastor gets an Honorarium  it goes in the rat hole  fund ... when I need shells or go out of state on a hunt I break into it,

Hope we cross paths again Bob!     Mark Grayless

I just bought some of those $8 shells myself yesterday. I am fairly certain when those are gone, the next stuff will be 10 like everything else now:( I hope to get 2-3 more hunts in before end here the last day of Feb. Just acquired a Beretta AL391 Urika 2 Sporting. Love it so far! Shot my first ever perfect round of skeet with it the very first time I ever fired it.

Hope your season ends with a hit!

I see that ammo is much more plentiful than last year at this time. Higher in price but at least you can get it.

It seems like there's way more of a selection available around here as well.

Let's see, costs me about a hundred bucks to fill up with gas. About the same for a flat of shells. Only a few years ago it was $35 and $50-60.

Unfortunately, most guys get numb to the high prices and just pay.

I haven't forgotten. I haven't forgotten the cause. And I know how the problem can be rectified.
